Good option if you don't have any option

Overall college is good choice if you have not many choices and best if you have only sit for WEBJEE and not secured minimum rank for getting Jadavpur.

Honestly, MAKAUT(University from which IEM is affiliated) is worst University as per my knowledge. They have very outdated syllabus but after 2018 syllabus has been changed so no worry now. But our college managed to give us some industry driven approach and also organised many conferences seminars, workshop s on new technologies. Thanks to college, we didn't face any problem due to outdated syllabus. Coming to semester exam students don't have to worry. I think MAKAUT organises one of the easiest sem exam. Honestly, one have to study one night before exam for securing decent marks.

This college is known for their placement. If you are from IT,CSE or ECE department then I will guarantee that you will get at least 3 lpa package if you have not more than 1 backlog. College will also provide you many intership opportunities through internshala, Amazon, TCS and many startup companies.So you will get some industry oriented knowledge before joining any company.

College organises many fest and cultural programmes throughout the years. IEM techfest aka INNOVECIA is said to be one of the biggest in kolkata. So throughout the year you will get good doses of entertainment as well as something new to learn. Despite of techfest and culture programmes, different departments also organise their own fests.

Fee is affordable. It is arround 1 lpa(hostel fee excluded). Also college accept payment through almost all the major payment platforms, so no need to worry. But you have expend lot of money in staying as you have to stay in pg because college has no hostel facility. Food is very cheap in Bengal.

College don't provide scholarship for general students but if you are from West Bengal then as per my knowledge, Bengal govt provides scholarship for students so you will be benefited.

If you have dreamt a college like you seen in 3-idiot movie then sorry please never opt for IEM. College campus is horrible. College campus is only in 2 acre so you can imagine campus life. College has to rent playgrounds at the time sports events. Despite of all these college always try to provide you all the facilities a general college have like college has CCD in very building, it has 24*7 digital libraries. But overall due to very small campus you can't enjoy these things much.

Many of our seniors are in reputed companies like Amazon, Adobe etc. So if you have good connection with them then they surely help you by giving guidence and if you are talented enough then they will give you referal also.

After my jee exam I was quite sure that I will not qualify. I had not many options because I had given only three entrance test jee,BITS-SAT and WBJEE. I qualified bot jee and bitsat so I had to go for WEBJEE. WEBJEE was organised in month of April,2016. After many researches I came to know that Jadavpur University and IEM are to good college s in West Bengal. I was not able to get stream in Jadavpur at the time of counseling but got IT in IEM so I opted IEM.

Faculties are overall good. Many professors are P.hd holders. Some of our professors are former IIT professors.Only problem is lab teachers are not very good as per my opanion. Overall professors are very friendly and helping in nature you can't expect everyone to be the best in their field.
