Remarks

As we all know swami Vivekananda is called a jail we were warned the junior colleges even have a uniform to it. It is not easy to get permissions but we did enjoy it to the fullest breaking of rules is a difficult for all time memorable experience to my remembrance i think sleeveless and capri pants were not allowed not that we dint wear.

Entrance Preview

Mumbai University HSC board was the sole exam on which I got into this college. The interest in upcoming technology and booming careers in the smart world IT industry got a spark in my eyes which led me to pursue the 3 year course over a good MHCET score and an A+ accrediated engineering college in Mumbai. At the end It did save my one year and made me learn only what I need.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The 1st and 2nd semesters were all about introduction to IT and digital world from Digital Computer Fundamentals and Electronics which was about microprocessors and its functioning to the great "C". Any IT person would remember the authors Yashwant Kanitkar for "Let us C" and E Balguruswamy. Some people get the software language logic instantly and some just do not. I wouldn't call it their fault, for some it just doesn't click. It took me two years i.e. the end of 4th semester to realize what the course had in it for me. This was when I had to pick between my electives for the final year i.e. Web Designing or Advanced Java. Wed designing looked so much for me with the kind of scare that java created back in 2006. It was when established scholars from my family took it on their pride if were to opt out of Java. There I was a non-swimmer in the ocean of Java. It was not too late i.e. after two mainstream lectures did I realize I do not follow or understand anything. :) Then there were the alerts on campus placements and Accenture was the first one to come in. That was it for me! I opened all the books (except the derived mathematics) and learned the C++ which was a basis for the so called OOP i.e. Object oriented programming. As said earlier, It was all about logic. And it clicked at that instant, I enjoyed it, it was then a game of puzzles for me. I would pick different random outputs and write programs for them, made my own notes. Java wasn't too far. It followed and synched in my blood. As a result a person good with her literature and management subjects also topped the programming languages and Java. I hope it doesn't sound too braggy but me and my partner even bagged the top score in the university live software project. And soon my work colleagues were telling me to get a patent for it. It would just be another review altogether to write about the project. I just adore the awesomeness of it.

Internships Opportunities

Oh I did not do an internship. I did a project. In an age where J2ME (Java to mobile edition) as a software language was new and yet coming, we developed a compression software for cell phones which was platform independent and robust. By platform independent I mean - it was not built for a particular OS. We coded and tested it for a virtual simulator. And yes we did give the demo in a Nokia and an LG and a Sony. Kudos it worked in all 3 and wonderfully compressed and decompressed all types of files, displayed the file sizes, had it own file browser and also compressed already compressed file formats like the jpeg and mp3.I remember the external examiner from university was waiting for us to take the cell phones out after we showed the working and code in virtual emulator. Not just the examiner the whole comp lab was excited and jumpyA great project to be a university topper and got campus placed.

Placement Experience

4

It was great at that era we had accenture, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, LNT, Citibank and many more. I remember them having four rounds in general the aptitude test group discussion technical Interview and the personal Interview.

College Events

2

The IT fest that was nowhere in front of the umang, the malhar, and the nazarana however we youngies made it big firstly no tech fest gathers as much audience as the cultural fests do but we had the gaming public for NFS from KC, HR colleges etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was extremely feasible and one of the main reasons I thought even if my parents could happily afford the engineering fees was it worth it Did I want them to spend that on me no, I felt they should save it for my MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, they did waiver the fees under certain criteria about loans etc sorry I do not have much information about it.

Campus Life

4

Awesome i do not remember the cultural fest name of VES but do remember it was great the dances, the fashion shows were extravagant in spite of the strictness and the discipline we made an awesome audience.

Hostel Facilities

4

Good and decent and we all loved it the favorites would be samosa chat, fried rice, egg schezwan fried rice, samosa chole, Chinese bhel, and the south indian menu.

Alumni/Alumna

I loved my seniors and we are still in touch and each trip I visit India, I definitely catch up with them. The girls and I stitch our lehengas for festive occasions together while the boys just joke.

Exam Structure

It was dedication required but not too vast that a student cannot handle or not too chilled out either. It required perfect combo of brains and struggle. The labs were twice a week and in the morning but not too inconvenient. 8 AM labs twice a week for a 11:35 AM lecture is not too hectic I feel. Yes we studied from 11:35AM to 3:35PM only, at max 4:45PM during extra courses of course.

Faculty

4.5

How can I not remember this. Few professors internal and visiting faculty but small bunch yet each one so unique and had a different impact. We had our own internal jokes. But jokes apart we did learn a lot. Madhavi mam the Database management subjects expert and her self-made phrases. Once while the class was chit chatting in the middle of the class she turned back and said "Whatever I said- all in water". No mam it wasn't all in vain. After all i am sitting here writing this review. The elegant smart tamilian Jaya mam or to say Jayalakshmi mam. What was it that she did not know. How did she have her own unique style of teaching and challenging young minds. The simple and subtle yet knowledgeable Kamalakar sir. Yes sir you taught me my java or whatever advanced java I know after I did my homework.

Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
