Remarks

Overall , the college is great if you want to explore yourself and enhance your creative side. If you want to have a good social life and a chilled out day along with great academics and great faculty there is no better option than this.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum of B.com is great here. There are groups being divided in the class to focus more on each student and there is 66.67% attendance compulsory for students so they have a rigid and strict course curriculum. But a day in this college is quite chilled out as we have time for many other productive activities such as societies, competitions etc. The course structure also keeps you updated and adapted with the environment and tries to bring out the best in each and every student. The examination structure here is rigid. We have theory as well as practical examinations. The GPAs we get are also inclusive of assignments , internals and attendance. So you can't really leave any of them. Each paper is of 100 marks and 25 marks out of 100 marks are of assignments , internals and attendance. And the rest of the marks are based on the theory exams conducted by Delhi University. There is a good time gap between every exam and the games are mainly conducted in the second slot of the day i.e,evening time so it does not create unneccesary pressure on students of the college.

Placement Experience

5

The best part about my college is its placement cell. IGNITE-The Placement Cell of SGTB Khalsa College does wonders to its students. There are a variety of placement and job opportunities which are provided to the students of all the courses. Many companies come to our college for on-campus placement and internship drives.Infact the placement cell of our college is one of the best placement cell among all the colleges of Delhi University. Our college also provides various internship opportunities in diverse fields and areas. There are internships in NGOs, Marketing , HR , Content Writing , Business Development , Teaching and many other various fields.Companies like RedBus , LIC , Aims India , Picxele , Bajaj Capital , Hundred Plus , Sharekhan , Chegg etc. came this year in the Online Internship Fair of the college.I must say that in terms of placement and internships SGTB Khalsa College stands out. Average stipends provided were 6k-14k p.m.

College Events

5

The biggest and the annual fest of our college is "Lashkara" which is a 3-day cultural festival celebrated with great zeal and joy. There are a variety of competitions and games held in this festival. There are also food stalls , gaming zones , exhibitions etc. and this year the famous Punjabi singer "Karan Aujla" came to our college to mark the last day of this fest. Not only this there are also various departmental fests held in our college. The Commerce Society also organizes its fest , there is also a fest conducted by NSS and NCC. These fests also have various inter-college competitions which are very interesting and encouraging. There is also a inter-college debate competition which takes place every year by the Debates And Discussion Society of the college. So the fests in our college and various programmes held are the bestest in our college and if you want to go for this college hands down it is the best if you want to have a social life as well with the academics.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure set up by Delhi University is very feasible and is established keeping in mind every student and its family's financial condition. In comparison to rest of the colleges of Delhi University , our college's fee structure is quite expensive but it is because of the facilities provided by the college such as Air Conditioners in Classroom , Labs and Auditorium.

Fees and Financial Aid

No schoarship/loan facility is offered by our college as it is prestigious college and is a government college so the admission is purely based on either merit list or entrance exams. And the fee structure of Delhi University is quite feasible hence there are no such requirements.

Campus Life

3.5

Extra-curricular activities and social life are one of the best things of this college. There are regular workshops in our college related to academics as well has mental health to enhance student's efforts and develop them. The societies of our college are very active. There is debate and discussion society, there is ENACTUS an extraordinary society which combines entrepreneurship and social obligations of business. There is NSS , NCC , photography society and STROKES-THE FINE ARTS SOCIETY and COMSOC-The Commerce Society. One thing or the other happens daily in our college like exhibitions , competitions , debates. Our college students face no discrimination on the basis of gender , race , religion although it is a sikh-minority college. Each and every student and faculty lives with great comfort with each other and there is much student diversity and students from all around the country take admission here.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I have personally opted for the PG named STANZA LIVING in Kamla Nagar near my college and it is the best of all you can get in Kamla Nagar, North Campus. Though it is a bit expensive according to rest of the PGs but it provides equal facilities according to its price. There is gym , a common room and the food here is very nice and is certified by FSSAI as well. They also regularly take you for movies , travelling so that you get a break from monotonous routine. Moreover , once in every week there is also live counter for food and we get to taste the bestest food of all. There are double -sharing rooms as well as triple-sharing rooms depending upon your convenience.

Admission

I am currently doing my Bachelors In Commerce from SGTB Khalsa College , Delhi University. The admission here in this college is based on the Delhi University Merit cut-off list which is prepared every year and according to your marks obtained in Senior Secondary(Class 12th) you get admission in this college. I always wanted to pursue something in the field of commerce as i have good leadership and mangerial skills so i did my Bachelors In Commerce from this college. Before taking admission in any college you should read the reviews of the college at different sites , check the rankings of NIRF and others as i did and then prioritize your college.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is recruited by Delhi University itself but the faculty i must say is very qualified and very good. They know how to deal with the students and they are also updated with all the facts and figures which keeps students updated as well. Almost every faculty member of the college has completed his/her PHD in his/her subject and is doing a great job in the college. There are field visits also and the faculty shows a keen interest in teaching his/her subject. Moreover , the faculty in my college is very experienced. Almost every faculty member has an experience of around 5-10years which makes them do their job wonderfully. Labs are conduced timely and the faculty members also try and create a friendly environment during lectures so that it becomes more easier and comfortable for students to learn and develop themselves.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

For placements fifth semester student are eligible for placements. Since it is best commerce college. Companies like big 4, google, bank of America, Goldman Sachs, bcg, bain and co., Sbi, paytm, meesho and many more comes. The highest package was 36 LPA this year from meesho for senior analyst roles. Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

There is a proper placement cell for this which is very active. The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
