One of the best commerce colleges in all of India with extremely qualified staff. However, hostel accomodities must be provided to the several students that migrate from the other states

The college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, and the course is fairly competitive. The teaching method is descriptive and draws on the basic knowledge about your field. The curriculum followed in the college is directly linked to the pertinent knowledge level required in the industry.

Goenka College has an average means of placement, which, despite being competent, is nowhere close to the placement opportunities provided by some other top-notch colleges in the city. About 20-30% students are placed every year, but they are placed in some of the major companies.

Social Day, Annual Day, Foundation Day,3-day long college fest and an annuak sports day are some of the major events held in the college. The college looks to bolster the social and cultural strengths of the students and is also designed to test their merit. The Goenka College fest is an event to remember.

The fee structure is extremely feasible, it being a government college. Students are required to pay an inexpensive one-time admission fees following which, tuition fees are charged on a quarterly basis at a minimal rate. It is mandatory to pay for the annual College fest, however, but it is comparatively lower than the other colleges in the city.

The college does provide scholarship opportunities to meritorious students. The student having the highest percentile marks during admission is awarded with a scolarship programme. Later, the students securing the first rank in the university exams are also provided with scholarships.

I discovered a healthy gender ratio among students in the college. However, the proportion of female teachers in the faculty is achingly low. The college organises debates and quiz competitions during foundation day and College fest celebrations. Diversity and multiplicity is cherished in the college and an inclusive environment is carefully maintained.

Goenka College does not have a hostel facility. However, it is located in a busy area; so PGs and rented flats are available in every corner at an inexpensive rate. Paying guest accommodations are available within Rs. 2. 5k per month.

The senior students and the alumni network of the college are the most helpful and engaging lot in any college in the city. The college has a student's union which is rather passive and dormant in their political activities, but are extremely generous and kind.

I was required to fill in an online form on behalf of the college, in which I was asked about my 12th Board marks and preferred subject for graduation. About half a month later, my name was listed in the college merit list and I was called upon for admission. They usually call meritorious students upto 95 percentile marks. However, being a government college, it does have a reservation quota.

Goenka College has some of the best commerce teachers in all of India. All the teachers are highly qualified and most are PHD holders in their respective fields. The faculty believes in descriptive teaching and they make sure every student in the class is as judiciously taught as the one beside.
