Remarks
The college on the whole has a good infrastructure. The quality of the faculty has room for improvement and so is the management. The management is found to be excessively strict which creates tension among students and a general hatred towards the management. The college should give students a little lengthier rope and let them be themself instead of poking their nose in their personal life.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course and curriculum is designed by the Anna University. The college had professors who were at par with other college professors. The dedication level of them was commendable. The syllabus though, always seems a bit outdated. Constant updation is needed in this regard.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario is mainly dominated by the IT companies, irrespective of the department of engineering you are from. Students were also happy to get into the IT sector, considering the decent package they were offering. More than 80 percentage of the eligible candidates get placed on a regular basis. The college has a portal where the students are made to register before placements. The students can apply to different companies from the same portal, where the eligibility criteria and other details are specified clearly. Special placement training was imparted in every alternate semesters by third party trainers.
College Events
Technical symposium and workshops were organised every year wherein students from across the state would participate. Cultural feats and college day functions were organised every year which every student looks forward to eagerly. Eminent personalities were also invited for the functions.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee ranged from 4-5 lakhs for a merit seat and 8-9 lakhs for a management seat. The break up for the same was given clearly. For a management quota seat, capitation fees are charged and the quantum differs from candidate to candidate. Mostly on an average it was 2-4 lakhs, and on a few cases have reached as high as 8 lakhs for a mechanical engineering seat. All modes of payment are accepted by the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
I opted for an education loan from Andhra Bank. Many Banks set up stalls during the counseling at Anna University. The entire process is easy. I availed an interest free loan. The eligibility criteria for the same is to get into a college on a merit basis. I got a loan of 3 lakhs. Scholarships are available for minority and backward class students and also for poor people. The scholarship for minorities and backward classes are fixed by to government while for the poor it depends on the management's decision.
Campus Life
Core departments like mechanical, civil and production engineering is mainly dominated by male students, whereas other departments have equal gender ratio and in a few cases, girls outnumber boys. College frequently organises competitions, workshops and other events which emphasized on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Emphasis was given for sports and talent was always nourished in the proper way by giving them proper exposure.
Hostel Facilities
No. I was a day scholar. But as per the information from my friends who stayed in hostel, there are separate hostel for boys and girls. The rooms are adequate. The hostel rentals ranges from 30000-40000, per annum.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has a alumni portal and the college organises alumni meet every year. The network is strong and people are present in top companies in good positions. They visit college occasionally to share their experience and insights.
Admission
The admission process happened through a cut off list prepared by the Anna University and subsequently through an open counselling, where the seats are up for grabs. The schedule of counseling is informed before and happens generally on the month of June. The candidates are called as per their cut off starting from the highest to the lowest. As this college is considered as a parent's favorite, my mother chose this college for me. The college is considered as a strict college with a lot of emphasis on education.
Faculty
There were close to 30 faculty members in my department with the average age of about 30-35. Everyone had completed their master's and a few had completed their doctorate and many were pursuing their doctorate. There were a few stand out professors who had complete command in their subject knowledge, while a few lacked in the same. A few of them were knowledgeable but poor in expressing the same.
