CIEM Review

The course curriculum followed is of the West Bengal University of Technology which is pretty much concise and well formed. Though the curriculum isn't much industry oriented one and research driven. It needs to be revised which ofcourse I'm sure they've improved by now.

Poor placement provided. The students mostly have to depend on pool campus drives and off campus drives. In my time the only MNC which had come was TechMahindra that too selected 17 people from college among which I was one. There came ByJus and few more giving sales related role to engineers. Thereby the standard of placement is pretty low compared to other private colleges in Kolkata.

College Fest named "Celsius" which is pretty good taking in consideration to the events and the national bollywood singers and bands they invite spending all their money. Wish they would have spent the same in bringing placements. Other events like Biswakarma and Saraswati Puja, Holi are also celebrated.

The fee structure is quite feasible. It's 3. 30Lakhs in 4 years. Approximately 80000 a year. 40000 each semester. It does provide transparency in fee structure. They also provide waiver for families who fall under BPL category. They pay 1000Rs per semester so approx 80000Rs for whole B. Tech course.

No the college doesn't provide any special scholarships. I didn't opt for any loan. It was self financed from family.

Campus life is good and not much strict. There's a huge ground which is a football field shorter than the actual size. Amidst the city you can't expect better. M:F ratio is almost 3:1 but mostly in IT and CSE departments. In Electrical Engineering and civil dept it's around 6:1 ratio.

No. Our college doesn't provide hostel opportunity. The outstation students mostly opt for PGs nearby as their rates are pretty cheap in kolkata approximately 2. 5-3k per month which is the cheapest in India I believe.

The alumni network and senior students should interact more with students and the college should take some responsibility for the same.

Admission happened through WBJEE & JEE Mains Rank, I chose Electrical Engineering as I liked Physics and Electricity as a subject. The institution is near to my place and in the city which compared to most other colleges of similar rank is a big plus point hence I didn't have to opt for a hostel. The institution takes in students based on their Ranks in competitives. The higher the rank the preference for you to choose the course.

The institution lacks good faculty. They should hire more teachers who have completed their Mtech from reputed govt institution rather than private colleges. The faculty lacked clarity of the subject instead they focused more on the bookish knowledge. However some guest lecturers and senior faculty members were a class apart.
