My College

Overall, ours is a good College but it needs to improve some of its aspects, including food quality.

The syllabus is slightly different now than what it was when I joined, which is a good thing as updation of syllabus based on current needs of the IT industry was necessary. There are a lot of good and helpful teachers and professors in the College that help with studies and practical projects. There are regular tests based on what has been taught and an End sem exam at the end of each semester, which is fair.

Many companies visited our College for campus selection process, including IT companies like Cognizant (CTS), Capgemini, Wipro, and for other branches. Our College had been preparing us since last semester for this process by giving us opportunity of taking part in many such tests that prepared us for campus drive.

Our College celebrates some festivals like Saraswati Puja and Vishwakarma Puja thigh are organised by the mixed cooperation of management committee as well as students. Our College apse organises cultural fests, technical fests, fresher's party, sports events for teachers as well as students.

Fee is not very expensive, it is feasible for middle class students. The College fee is around ?44000 per semester without hostel facility. We can pay the College fee online or using a check. The students who have taken bank loans can pay the College fee using a demand draft.

I have not taken any loan or scholarship but the government of West Bengal provides a special scholarship, called the tution fee waiver (tfw) program, which is applicable only for students with West Bengal domicile.

Our College is a co ed College, so, both boys and girls study together here. In our department, there are around 80 boys and 40 girls. There are seperate hostels for boys and girls. Our College has many clubs that are good, like IOT and robotics, each having their own designated labs. Students can also opt to be a part of various sports teams.

I do not live in College hostel. But those who opt to live in the College hostel and do so by paying extra hostel fees. There are seperate hostels for boys and girls. For first year boys, there are four beds per room, which reduces to three or two in higher years.

The seniors are very helpful towards adjusting in College life, as they share their own knowledge as well as experiences with us.

First, I had to appear for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) in which, I got a good rank. Then we had to select preferable colleges and the attend the councelling sessions where I got Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch in Dr B C Roy Engineering College, Durgapur.

There are a lot of good and helpful teachers and professors in the College that help with studies and practical projects. They give very useful insights towards the IT industry and help us in selecting which courses to study, other than those offered by College, which companies to go for internships, and a lot of other things.
