Remarks

It's the best option for a commerce student of West Bengal.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The college is located at the heart of the city of Joy, Kolkata. So, the learning process not only includes good academic knowledge but it emphasizes on overall personality development of a student. Moreover, the interactive study sessions give the students a chance to explore themselves in a much better way.

Placement Experience

4

As it's a college mainly for the Undergraduate course, most of the students either go for further studies or go for professional degrees. Though only 20-25% of the batch takes the placements, the average package is quite lucrative for Commerce graduates. The average package varies between Rs 5 Lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs. Reputed companies like PWC, E&Y, KPMG and Delloite visits the institute for hirings.

College Events

4.5

There are 2 Cultural festivals organized in the college. First, The Quest, organised just before the greatest festival of bengalis, the Durga Puja. Quest is organized through 3 consecutive days and there are almost 80 different cultural events in which almost 30 college from Kolkata do participate. On the other hand, Ucalipso, the other cultural fest is organised during winters and iscelebrated for a day only. It's an intra college festival.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure of the college id most feasible as it's a Govt College and it gets good aids from Govt. The fees for the 3 year course is Just around 5 thousand rupees that anyone can afford and it makes the college more attractive as the return on investment is so high compared to other undergraduate colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't opt for a scholarship as the family income was quite high and I didn't feel the need of the same as well. But there is a facility of scholarship for the ecomically weaker section sanctioned by the Govt of West Bengal.

Campus Life

4

Goenka College provides the best campus life one can have. There are students from more that seven states of India and it gathers the culture of all the states at one place. Coming to gender diversity, 56% of the batch were female and rest were male. The sports facilities are also available under the Calcutta University sports events.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I opted for the paying guest accommodation and there were large rooms with Ac, fridge and tv that costed me around seven and half thousand rupees per month without fooding. The rooms were twin sharing and was quite comfortable.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors were very helpful. As there are only two courses in the college, the relation between seniors and juniors are established more effectively and they guide the juniors in academics as well as in overall development.

Admission

After 12th, the best college for a commerce student to pursue B. com is Goenka College of Commerce. All the board toppers apply in the institute and selected as per the merit list. The process begins in the month of May and end by mid June. There are one Merit list and two waiting lists normally.

Faculty

5

Goenka College of Commerce provides the best faculty possible in a Govt college. All the faculty members are post graduate degree holders and they give their level best to provide the students the best knowledge of the subjects. The relation between the faculties and students are also remarkable. It creates a friendly atmosphere in the campus.

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.
