Course Curriculum Overview
If you are studying in this college in any course, you need to study well and have all your concepts clear in your mind. Otherwise you might not score good marks in the exam and sometime you may fail. The syllabus and the practical works are quite updated, and includes modern methods of diagnosing a patient.
Placement Experience
Our college has a good reputation of producing good doctors in the country. So, after graduating from the college, one would definitely grab a good package. Also, there is an internship program for the students through which they can work as an intern in the real medical world while studying. The stipend of the internship is quite good and the students would get a good amount of exposure and experience from this.
College Events
There is an annual event that takes place every year where around 20-25 medical colleges come and participate in various events (like sports, dance, cultural, literature, etc.) to win trophies and cash prizes. The college also organizes workshop for the students where they can learn new things and work on projects together.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is comparatively decent from other medical colleges in the country. One of the reasons might be that it is a state-run medical college. Anyway, for a MBBS student, the fee would go up to Rs. 30,000-35,000 per year. And if you take hostel, the fee might get high up to Rs. 1 lac per year. (But, kindly check the latest fee structure for your admission year, it may change).
Campus Life
You may find both boys and girls grouping up together and participating in group studies, hanging out or chilling, having parties, etc. I didn't find any gender discrimination during my time and I believe that it is the same now also. You will find students from various cultures, rationality, backgrounds, ethnicity, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Both the boys and the girls hostels are separate and well maintained by the staffs. The buildings and surroundings are clean, the food is average to good, and you would find all the basic amenities inside the hostel building. The hostels are not far from the college building, so don't worry about rushing to your in the morning.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are helping in nature, they treat you like a younger brother/sister. The college has been producing skilled medical workers for more than 50 years now. Therefore, it has a good number of alumni. The alumni come once in a year to our college, meet together, and give advice to the aspiring doctors.
Admission
First and foremost, you have to score good in your 10+2 board exam. Second, you need to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and get a desirable rank to get admission in the Coimbatore Medical College. Out of the total seats in the college, only 15% is reserved for the All India students. The remaining 85% are reserved for its own state students.
Faculty
The faculties are our mentors and guide as well. They are professionals, and are quite friendly to make you understand things easily. The professors put a lot of efforts to make you a polished and skilled doctor. If you get stuck in any topic or chapter, you can always look up to them.
