Remarks

Better management is needed. Student initiatives should be supported and greater transparency is required in administrative work. Facilities which are extended should be maintained.

Entrance Preview

I wrote the popular Common Law Admission Test. I don't recall how much I scored. But I opted for this because Patna is my hometown. We did not have to give any interview and the admission was only on merit basis.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The five year course is divided into 10 semesters with each semester having 5 subjects. First year comprised of some B.A. papers like history, sociology, political science, etc. All the other semesters had various law papers including civil law, criminal law, commercial law, international law, etc.

Internships Opportunities

There was no process of getting internship via college. We applied on our own and got whatever stipend was offered. Many initiatives were takes to build internship cells but however they did not survive due to petty student politics.

College Events

2.5

The college holds a spring festival every year. It includes a cultural fest and sports fest. Intermittently, moot court competitions were also held. Parliamentary debate competitions were held each year and are now quite popular.

Fee Structure And Facilities

When we took admission the fee was quite reasonable. Every year we paid approximately 70, 000 for everything beside mess fees. The first year we paid around one lac because of admission fees and security money. However, today it has almost doubled.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college doesn't offer any scholarship. I did not get any scholarship. But there is a minority scholarship given by the government. I know many classmates who had taken loans.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life was on and off quite relaxed. Initially many events were held but it completely depended on student participation. Gender ratio was equal. Politics always played spoiler every time. Now this situation has improved.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel was new so we had less facilities but was always clean. We only had a common room with TV. Today there is also a personal gym for both the hostels. Mess food was sometimes okay sometimes terrible.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network rarely works. As long as seniors were in college they were often helpful. But not so much after passing out. A stronger network needs to be established so that students will benefit

Exam Structure

Every semester comprised of three exams. Beside mid semester and end semester, we also had surprise tests where we knew the dates but not the the subjects. Project presentation were also held. It was all very hectic.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty is pretty good especially till 3rd year where most of the basic law papers are covered. Studying criminal law and jurisprudence was very interesting. Even sociology, economics and political science were nicely dealt with. The faculty is also involved helping students with their term projects.

Placement Experience:

CNLU is generally known for Judiciary. The majority of students are preparing for the Judiciary exam. Placement at this college is quite low compared to other colleges. This is because in placement very few students sit and appear for the placements. The majority of the students opt for higher studies like LLM or other PG courses or start preparing for Judiciary or Civil service exams. The main disadvantage of low placement is the geographical location of this college. It is situated in Patna where there is no company resides. All the major companies are in Delhi, Mumbai, or other big cities. Patna is underdeveloped which is why most of the big companies don't come to recruit the students. Students are eligible for placement from the eighth semester only. After completing his/her graduation they can join the company. Major companies visited for placement are banks and second-tier law firms. Approx 25% of students get placed during the year. I am planning to prepare for the judiciary.
