Entrance Preview
AIEEE, I secured in the top 7% of all the candidates who wrote the exam. NITK has a good ranking most of the time within top 10 engineering colleges in India. I asked my tutors and seniors and a few other people about joining the same. Along with this, NITK has a private beach and I guess the most beautiful location and scenic campus. Proximity to Goa is 4 hours.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was heavy. I had to complete 192 credits to get Btech degree. Each course was about 4 credits. The curriculum was so heavy that the administration had to cut down to 162 credits for my junior batch.
Internships Opportunities
The placement scenario in Surathkal is really good. All the top notch companies are there every year. When I was in final year about 180 companies came for placement. Now it might have increased. Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, ZS associates, JP Morgan, KPMG, E&Y, etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Now as you can search yourself, NIT's have also become expensive. But I had to pay about 25k each semester including fees, hostel and mess which was quite cheap.
Fees and Financial Aid
My all India category rank was 516. I was offered a laptop, from which I am typing this survey, and full refund of tuition fees.
Faculty
All the faculties were PhD's from IISc or IIT's. Most were cool but there are always a few bad apples. They are able to publish a few papers in reputed international journals and has MOU's with some big shot profs.
