I do feel the faculty are spread too think and hiring good and qualitfied faculty would be very helpful.
Entrance Preview
I took AIEEE IIT JEE were written. I secured 49th rank in the state and wanted to study ECE and NITK surathkal was one of the best places.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was pretty broad with both depth and breadth of all fields of ECE. The electives were provided during the final year only and were in the fields of Communication error COntrol Codes,Advanced Wireless Communicats etc others included Mixed Signal Design etc.
Internships Opportunities
During my college I did intern at two places IIT Delhi and IISc in research labs and did not have any stipend attached with them. The institute did little during my time to procure internships for students and personal initiative is necessary.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities are a plenty. We had more than 300 companies visiting us and almost everyone had a job by the end of final semester. The highest package paid out during 2008 was 12 lakhs. I received an offer from Samsung worth 6 lakhs and decided to go aboard for studies instead.
College Events
We have plenty of both engineering and cultural festivals. Engineer is our annual tech fest with a host of competitions and participants from around the country. We have Incident as out cultural festival and has massive participation and fun.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees in NITK was very nominal I would pay 10, 000 Rs in semester fees. The institution is heavily subsidized and pretty affordable. The mess fees was 5, 000 rs a semester and wasnt very expensive either.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers a lot of scholarships awards to highly talented students. There are scholarships for under represented sections of the society as well and for poor students as well.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are great we have a lot of clubs varying in focus from robotics,internent,computer programming all the way star gazing,quizzing,music,clubs and gave a lot of opportunities for students to discover their hidden talent.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels were great the mess food was good too. Though the quality would vary very much over the semester the quality is pretty good and healthy.
Alumni/Alumna
The NITK alumni is really strong with many almnus spread around the world and many more in the Bay area of USA. We hold annual alumni conferences with a lot of energetic attendees.
Exam Structure
Some of the courses had fewer exams 2 quizzes,mid sem and end sem while there were a few subjects which had more frequent quizzes and surprize at that.
Faculty
The faculty are well read and have degrees from top indian colleges. They are pretty extensive in their teaching and available most of the time.
