Labs were of old dated instruments and should be updated. There should be more focus on research and internship abroad. This will provide a global experience to students like IITs.
Entrance Preview
All India Engineering Entrance Examination 2005- Rank 12008. I choose NIT Surathkal because of its education and placement. Professors are all Phd with vast areas of research.
Course Curriculum Overview
First year is majorly mandatory courses 2& 3 are divided between electives and mandatory. Final yr is all elective courses with a major project. Electives are 3 credit courses and core courses are 4 credit courses. Electives were happened only if the number of students are more than 25. else priof would drop the course
Internships Opportunities
I did my 2nd yr internship at National thermal Power corporation. There i worked on an ongoing project to study a research project on desulhurization. I did 3rd yr internship under college prof. as a research assistant. No stipend paid.
Placement Experience
Placements are generally started in 7th semester. The companies ranges from core engineering /Marketting/ finance/ e commerce and Management companies. Core companies usually pays less than all the other companies. The range of package during my placements were 2.4lpa- 24lpa. No Foreign placements
College Events
We usually have 2 major events one tech and other non tech. Tech event is called Engineer and non-tech is Incident. Tech event in odd sem and non tech in even sem.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees is very nominalfor the First sem I paid approx 30000 Rs which included some 1 time payment fess and cation money which was refunded after college is over. For rest of the year, I paid 12000 in even and 7000 in odd sem for college and hostel. Mess fess approx 5000 each sem.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes Loans were available at the time of your enrollment to college. It was from SBI and Canara bank.
Campus Life
Campus life was very interesting as well as challenging. There were many thing that you would want but time is its cost. There were clubs like movies club, robotics/ star gazing/management forum/ Spic macay. All of these organize various conferences/ events/ debates and quiz
Hostel Facilities
Yes the rooms are on sharing For Ist yr, it was shared -3 student per roomfor 2nd and 3rd yr it was 2 for final yr you can choose if you want sharing or you want alone. Hostel fee would be diff if you opt for alone.
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors were really helpful in whichic clubs to join, which courses to take, How are the professors.Help juniors wiht intership and placements as well. We ususally had discussion on their experience on Internship and Jobs.
Faculty
95% of the faculty are Phd holders, rest are all Masters holders. Faculty are Phds from IITs/IISc/or Foreign Institutions. All faculty are indulge in Research, funded either from MHRD or Companies based in/out from India.
