College has a lot more potential that it can surely do and achieve

In the year 2015, NIST was ranked 69th among top 100 colleges by MHRD . This attracted me as well as many other candidates which resulted in largest batch for NIST till now. Pros: 1. If you want to study hard and achieve something then this college is for you , but you have to do vigorous study. 2. Nist participates in many all Indian hackathons and always secures position among top 4. Last year we were 1st. 3. Fully internet applied hostels. 4. Beautiful location. 5. You will get medium opportunities for placements. I mean not more & not less. Cons : 1. You can feel frustrated sometimes because the location of the college is far away from city . 2. Teachers use to demoralise students previously but now I think condition has changed. 3. Huge number of restrictions related to entry and exit timings in hostels. You will not be allowed to stay outside after 7 pm (in case of girls). 4. Management is also confused and internal tensions are there.

Course curriculum is good and gets completed before time generally. I chooses ECE because placements of ECE and CSE are good there , and also the highest package of 18 lpa was from ECE department. Most faculties are PhD and experienced ones. Coming to exams, if you concentrate in class lectures then it's enough to study 2 days before semesters for getting above 8 CGPA.

On-campus opportunity is not that much but a lot of pool campus is there and we need to travel from Berhampur to Bhubaneswar for this , college management provides buses for placements activities. Nist treats INFOSYS as there first day company i.e. you will see everyone preparing for Infosys during placement days.

Academic fees and hostel fees will be fixed throughout the course. Mess fee depends upon your presence in the hostel. If you are present in hostel that means you have to pay for mess fee. Scholarships are available but only for sc,st not for general categories. State scholarships and book grant scholarships floats throughout the year. I was TA for continuously 2 semesters they pay for this approx. 2000 for one semester. I got placed in 2 MNCs WIPRO and COGNIZANT prior one is off campus and later one is pool campus .

There are bunches of clubs present at Nist , some are really good others are for passing time and hanging out with your partner's. Good ones are EHC club , Robotics Club ,NAC club . There are two libraries present at Nist one is present at octagon building which have largest library. Other one is at atrium which contains books for competitive exams .
