Vasantdada Sugar Institute - [VSI] is a college in Pune, Maharashtra, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, offering Master's degree in Science, Diploma and Certification courses. It was established in 1975.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was kind of student friendly. It focused on making us ready for working in industries and research institutes because that is actually the end goal. We were assessed on 2 final exams a year, journals and practicals.
Placement Experience
Normally, after postgraduation, students would get jobs in sugar mills, distilleries, research institutes. Companies like Seagram Distilleries (Nashik), Renuka Sugars (Karnataka), Ganesh Khand Udyog (Gujarat) came down year after year for our campus placements.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for PG Diploma is moderate/normal when compared to other colleges offering the same course. Yearly fees came to around ?50,000. It is not very expensive for a lot of us. This fees included tuition fees, application fees, internet fees, etc.
Campus Life
Sports and extracurricular activities are a part of holistic development of a person, along with studies. That's why there are fields for outdoor games (individual/team). There are enough practical lectures in labs to maintain students' attention.
Admission
The application/registration wasn't available online. So when I filled the form, I was told of a written entrance test to be given. I gave the test after my B.Sc. result was declared and satisfactory, passed it and got admission here in M.Sc.
Faculty
The faculty were professionally very qualified. They taught us how to work in big companies. They were truly dedicated. Even the technical assistance we had would be ready whenever we had some glitch in computers or anything to fix it right away.
