A review of Nirmalagiri College

The course curriculum is nicely designed, with all the important topics included. The course structured in a way that we always have the basics covered before studying a particular topic. Exams are conducted regularly by the university.

There are decent placements in the college, although there is scope for improvement. South Indian bank, Federal Bank and Wipro are the top recruiters from the college. The Career guidance and placement cell helps the students in preparing for the interviews and placement season.

There is an annual fine arts fest of the college, called Chamoyi, where there are a number of performances, workshops and competitions. Further, there are departmental fest such as the Physics department's Amo fiziko fest, or the Home Science fest organised by the Department of home science.

The course fees is very affordable. The three-year Bachelor's course, in fact, only costs just about 10,000 rupees, which isn't really very high. The fact that the degree is awarded by a reputed state university, and that we get good faculty and infrastructure for that fees, makes it all the more feasible.

There are many different scholarships provided by the college, for different kinds of students with financial difficulties. There's the Central Sector scholarship, State Merit scholarship, PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child and Vidhya Samunnathi Scholarship for UG & PG Students to name a few.

There are so many extracurricular activities and facilities in the college. Sports is popular in the campus. Then, there is the Eco club, QUiz club and the debate club. Under the Additional Skill Aquisition Programme (ASAP), students are encouraged to develop their skills in IT, communication and other selected areas. There are strict anti-ragging guidelines and a College Student Union.

There are hostels available, 4 for girls and 1 for boys. The facilities are decent. and living conditions are pretty good. There is proper supervision, and demand is high, which means we'd usually have to book them much earlier.

The eligibility criteria for admission to Nirmalagiri College is on the basis of 10+2 results. There is a centralised application portal for all colleges under Kannur University. I applied with my 10+2 results and chose this college as I had heard good things about it.

The faculty are qualified in their respective fields. They've been teaching for years, and their experience shows in the way they teach a particular subject. They utilise their own understanding of the topics and help us do the same.
