Remarks
Irrespective of what you feel in those 4 years, it is a very cool NIT and the brand value is evident. The alumni network is now being taken seriously and relations are being cultivated.
Entrance Preview
I was able to grab a seat in Computer Science and Engineering by securing AIR - 5100 ~ 5200 in AIEEE.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is quite hard and detailed for electives, there is not much of a choice. They are given CGPA basis so one does not have much of choice in choosing. There are some subjects like mechatronics industrial safety etc which gives the real exposure of the present industry standards.
Internships Opportunities
Amazon, Zomato etc. are few providing internship opportunity to top notch students and stipend is also decent.
Placement Experience
As per placement goes. CSE is one of the branch where placements have surged in past few years, highest offer being 75LPA from Epic Systems(US). Placement is almost 100 percent(in CS) with average salary package of 4.5LPA .
College Events
There are 2 big fests that happens in college. 1. Techniti- technical fest, budgeted around 15 lakh 2. Utkansh- cultural fest, budgeted around 20lakh.These are average fest as compared to other colleges.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Being a centrally funded institution fee structure was reasonable and affordable. Per semester we paid around 24K(including hostel and mess), but fee have increased in recent times and is around 50K per semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
No scholarships are offered from institution but you can avail scholarships announced by central and state government. Loans can be easily availed from any bank. There are 2 banks inside the campus. They provide loans at reasonable rate.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are pretty spacious and clean. A Mega hostel has been constructed recently with ample of facilities. Mess food is also good, considering how bad mess food can be.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very social and interactive they helped their juniors in handling the annual fests and also helped them in placements by persuading their companies, in which they have been working.
Exam Structure
Exams happens 3 times a semester. But schedule is not at all hectic one gets enough time for himself and other extra curricular activities.
Faculty
Being an institute of National Importance, NIT Jalandhar's faculty are not qualified to that level(at least not in CSE dept.). Most of the faculty in CSE is on contractual basis and they leave after getting enough experience for a higher salary raise.
