Entrance Preview
CLAT entrance exam 2009. It is a national entrance exam and one is selected based on merit and college is allotted accordingly. I had scored 154 on 200.
Course Curriculum Overview
At the beginning the syllabus looks scary. 60 papers in 5 years. But after a year one gets used to it and its all normal then. The papers were good but could have been organised in a better way.
Internships Opportunities
Great experience. One should try to intern at different places to know the likes and dislikes about the job one has to take up after college. One gets to learn a lot and is a fun experience also. Generally the stipend is Rs. 5000 per month.
Placement Experience
Placement was decent. Out of 90 students, some 60 odd had opted for placement and by the end around 40 were placed. Basically the big law firms hire at the start and then in course of time, small firms, companies and PSU's hire. the packages range from 5 l.p.a. to 15 l.p.a.
College Events
In college, basically each and every festival is celebrated. That is the best part of being in a place which has students from all over the country. All regional festivals were celebrated with equal enthusiasm and more than 20 festivals were celebrated. Holi, diwali, makar sankranti, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have never availed of any such thing during college but yes people do get scholarships for higher studies and also for student exchange programs. Students also get funding for participating in international moot court competitions.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is almost 1:1. College has a young crowd, hence a party culture. There was no such intolerance towards any gender, religion or race during my years in college. Participation in extracurricular activities like sports, debates, MUN's etc are in large numbers.
Alumni/Alumna
This part has to be improved. Although there is some interaction with the alumni, it needs to improve a lot. It can really help the students understand the reality or practical life after college. It can help them prepare better for the life ahead.
Exam Structure
60 papers in 10 semesters. 6 paper per semester which was for 4 and a half months. And there were more than 30 tests during the semester. At times, it gets really hectic but one gets to adjust quickly to the system and plan his studies accordingly.
Faculty
Like every other college, some good, some decent and some poor. The law faculty was decent and one gets to learn a lot from the experience they carry but the management faculty was all from local areas and not so experienced.
