Good Exposure

It offers good exposure and facilities. Its a good college to be in and if you know how to use the available opportunities, can be a great experience.

The examinations I wrote include AIEEE and SRMJEE (SRM entrance examination). SRM is one of the best colleges available in the city and country in terms of opportunities, facilities and exposure.

Intern-ships offered inside the college are very limited. Generally intern ships will have to be seeked outside. Although available in plenty these outside intern-ships do not have stipends.

Placement numbers are high. Two to three thousand students get placed on campus. Top end companies like Infosys, CTS, Wipro, TCS, Amazon, Mu sigma come to the campus. Over 50 companies visit the college in due course. Average CTC is 3 Lac per annum. Higher end offers are also made for those with the required skills.

Tech Fest - AarushCultural Fest - MilanBoth are National level fests under the Technology and Engineering stream. Both events attract students from across the state and country. Second only to the IITs and Anna University. Apart from these there are plenty of management and department level fests arranged every year.

The fee structure is definitely in the higher end of the spectrum. 1.5 lacs every year with hostel fees starting from 75 K per year. Bus fees was 50 K per year for day scholars.

There are scholarships or term fees waivers for students who score consistently. Students who top board exams and the SRMJEE exams get admitted with scholarships.

There are plenty of extracurricular opportunities available. Best robotics teams receive grants. Students have fair autonomy with regards to fest management. Lot of exposure in terms of students getting to work on satellites, college newspaper, workshops, magazines. People from across the country and world can be seen on campus. Gender ratio difference is normal.

Room sharing includes 3, 2 or single rooms. There are two international hostels and more than 5 other hostels. In general the rooms, food and facilities are satisfactory. Rooms will be Individual accommodations (20 K/ month shared between 4 - 6 people) are available right next to the college.

Most seniors are approachable and friendly. Can be quite helpful in proving guidance. Seniors and Juniors have to work together in handling almost all workshops, college newspaper, sports teams, Tech fests.

There are two Cycle tests, one model exam and one final exam every semester. The cycle tests and model exam account for 50% of the total term marks. The final exam accounts for 50% of the total. Hectic in the initial semesters, the work load reduces as the course progresses.

The faculty is diverse and fairly experienced. The faculty has a good mix of experienced and new teachers. The lecturers are easily approachable and regular.
