Course Curriculum Overview
The duration of the course is 18 months. We also have six months of industrial training in which we address the catering aspects of different industries belonging to the hotel & food sector. The subjects which relate to food production are cookery, larder control & layout, butchery, standardization and balancing of recipes, prevailing food standards in India and importance of hotel catering and kitchen management.
Placement Experience
Top recruiting companies like Taj bengal, Radission hotel, Barista coffee, Hyatt Regency, Le meridian, Devigarh resort, Welcome group of hostels etc for the positions of food technologist, production supervisor, marketing manager, food quality manager. The average salary may range from 2 lpa to 7 lpa as per the students professional skills. Internship is also offered by the college in renowned hotels with stipend of 10,000 per month.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for one year is approx 60,000. This fees includes student membership fees, library fee, insurance against any emergency or penalties. The hostel & mess charges are not included in this fees structure. a caution money is to be deposited at the start of the course.
Campus Life
Sports activities such as football, volleyball, table tennis, chess, kabaddi, cricket are organised by the college council to encourage student participation. Workshops on food quality & control, kitchen management, bakery are organised every month. Other activities relate to cooking competition, dancing, singing, drama classes, face painting and organizing national festivals like holi, diwali, makarskaranti, Christmas etc.
Hostel Facilities
There is a demo kitchen provided to the students where they can have workshops related to baking, cooking, chocolate making & designing. The college is mainly located in Dadar, in heart of Mumbai. The computer lab of the college has 25 computers with good internet connection which facilities the work to take place easily. Separate hostels are provided to boys and girls with well furnished rooms but mostly on triple sharing basis. There is also an NRI hostel but only for girls who have taken admission in the NRI quota. The quality food kitchen basically serves as a students mess where the food is prepared. I would rate the facilitates as 9/10.
Admission
English should be a compulsory subject in class 12th with 45% marks from a reconised university. The maximum age limit for general students is 25 years and for the reserved category it is 28 years.The admission is made on the basis of qualifying examination. A merit list will be prepared and the students selected will be granted admission in the college.
Faculty
The teachers help the students in every possible manner.They tell the different techniques about how to bake, the right amount of ingredients that need to be added and how to make a perfect menu. The subjects are given a clarity when explained by the teachers in a very normal manner than just professionalizing. The practical sessions gives a boost to students to excel in their subject.
