Amit Paul's Review On ICFAI University, West Tripura

I took up ATIT entrance ( which is conducted by the university itself) .I had a decent score .Dont remember the exact score but it was around 74 out of 100. There is only one round. I got called after the entrance test and directly went for admission .The coolest thing is that they provide scholarships for northeast students and also there are lots of schemes if you do well in academics. In short if you want to save huge money and get standard education then choose this college.

course curicullum was as follows. There were 8 semesters. First year with the two semesters are the common subjects for all the branches.From second year you can also change your branch if you have already chosen during admission. Like I took up computer science and later changed it to Mechanical Engineering. There were 4 electives : Mechanical,civil,electronics and computer science engineering.

I was doing internship in a goverment organisation.So no stipend.But it was good to learn.Learned alot in designing and now I am a design engineer in a reputed company.So ,yes the internship helps.

As I said placement is the only drawback of the college. Since my last day at college no placement for my branch came.I did not even know how its like to sit in placements. Again because the placement people hardly have any contacts or they havent tried. Later in my 8th semester when I was doing my internship, they arranged some interviews.I went to two of them and got 1 . Salary was 18k. But I did not join as I did not like the location.

There are some events. ICARIA is the biggest one. Celebrated once in a year.Budget goes to even 20 lakhs. They call up some celebrities and also many activities occurs. ICTHALON is also once in a year.It is the sports fest and yes you get good amount of money if you win. Also there are some others like ethnic day and all.

Yes. Depends on your score. If you score 80% and above .You get your fee reduced 40% and score 90% above your 50% fee reduced.

First two years it will be very hectic because 80% attendance is required. And even if it is 78% you will get a backlog. This goes even for labs as well.The other two years are a chilled out ones .You will have no labs and only one project if your academics score is good. But yes the attendance matters whole 4 years.

There was a time when it was the best college in Northeast and had 90% of the faculties from the IIT"s and all the seniors with PHD .Some even international graduates. But there was a protest done by the locals against the college as it did not hire any of them .Since then faculties started resigning and in my final year there were hardly any good faculty atleast with a PHD.
