IIITT was set up in a temporary campus in 2013 but was shifted to the NIT campus in 2016, so the students have gotten luckier as they get to experience the facilities of the NIT which proves to be beneficial for them.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is relatively new, being established in 2013, it has only two under graduation courses to offer as of now. One being Computer Science and the other is Electronics and Communication. Both the courses have 8 semesters in total and regular tests with labs are conducted before the final exams.
Placement Experience
For a fairly new institute, the placements were decent. For the year 2018-19, 599 students were placed in 220 companies with an average package of 5 LPA, while the highest package was of 9 LPA. A student also grabbed an international offer with a CTC of $125,000 PA. The top recruiters of 2019 were TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Ramco Systems, Navitas and Elcot.
Fee Structure And Facilities
IIITT is fully funded by Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu and Industry Partners in the ratio of 50:35:15. So for a total of 4 years, you'll have to pay almost around Rs. 800000 if you belong to the general category like me. The OBC/SC/ST category students have to pay comparatively less fees. The fee structure is surely not the strongest point of IIITT.
Campus Life
There are a few extracurricular events that IIITT holds. The Sports Day being one of them is celebrated every year at the beginning of the odd semester. The event comprises of many popular sports like Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Chess, Basketball, Football and Table Tennis. The winners are awarded trophies and medals. IIITT also holds a literary festival called Atrang.
Admission
I took the JEE Main exam after my 12th boards and got an admission in IIIT Tiruchirappalli. One has to appear for the JEE Main exams if they wish to get an admission in any NIT or IIIT. After clearing the cutoff for the college, counselling processes started and I secured a seat for myself in the third round.
Faculty
The faculty is on par with the faculty of other top-notch colleges of India. The professors hold their solid ground in the research sector and are always ready to help the students with everything they have. The faculty takes good care of the students and makes sure that we do not struggle with anything.
