Course Curriculum Overview
The duration of the course is five years and one year of compulsory internship is to be done on rotational basis in hospitals and health care centers.We study subjects like public heath dentistry, oral pathology, emergency medicine, dental histology, oral surgery so that we can gain appropriate skills to master their art of dentistry.The maximum tine given to a student to clear BDS course is nine years.
Placement Experience
The recruiting sectors in BDS is dental clinics, hospitals, dental research center, dental officer or territorial officer in a government sector.The job roles offered are surgeon, dental physician, dentist lecturer and the average salary offered is 6 lpa. The students have to do one year of mandatory internship for which the stipend ranges from 15,000 to 40,000 per month in government or private hospitals like Endolite, Ottobock, Apollo and Max hospital.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tuition fees for one year is 5,50,000. One time registration fees of 10,000 has to be paid at the beginning of the college. Other charges include 40,000 which makes a total of approx 6 L for one year. The course would be completed in 23.7 L.The fees is a little bit expensive but if I compare it with other BDS college it is quite adjustable.
Campus Life
We have a Annual sports meet where at the Jawaharlal Stadium, Chennai where the students participate and compete against each other in games like football, relay race, volleyball, throw-ball, kabbadi, cricket etc. Cultural activities like dance competition, music festival, face painting, sculpture making, poster making competition, DJ night etc.
Hostel Facilities
Boys and girls are offered separate hostels with all the amenities such as water coolers, bedding, internet connection, attached bathrooms, laundry facility so that the students feel like they are living in a home like environment.A provisional store is also provided next to the hostel to fulfill the daily needs of the students.There is also a central library designed to accommodate 300 students at one time. A multi cuisine food court with two floors inside the college campus works to cater the needs & requirements of the students and staff. Separate section of south Indian, Continental food, desserts and fruit juices is also present there. I would rate the facilities as 4.5/5.
Admission
The students should have completed class 12th with physics, chemistry, biology or biotechnology compulsory subjects with 50% marks. Other than that you need to clear NEET-UG entrance exam.40% for SC/ST/OBC category.You can apply for the course online and pay the registration fees. If your name appears in the merit list you will be called by the college for a personal interview round. Clearing the interview you will be granted admission in the college.
Faculty
The teachers of the college are well trained and decent who help us throughout the course curriculum and try to solve all our issues. They emphasis on practical training rather than just emphasizing on the theoretical subjects. We get to know a lot about the dentistry sector and it's further future prospects. Overall all the teachers maintain cordial relations with the students.
