Overall the college days were the most beautiful time of my life. And this is because of the college environment, the persons around it, and the management.
Entrance Preview
Entrance examination: GATE Score/Rank: AIR 59 (IN)The reason I chose IIT Roorkee was that I wanted a core instrumentation subject (i.e. Measurement and Instrumentation) which IIT Roorkee offers.
Course Curriculum Overview
The subjects taught in this course were not limited to Instrumentation, one can take up the subject of his/her interest outside of the core subjects. The departmental subjects taught in this curriculum was decently vast.
Internships Opportunities
I was offered to take a laboratory class on my favorite subject 'Data-Structure'. I used to love to take that class. The stipend was revised in the middle of my course (I don't remember the exact effective date) from Rs.5000 to Rs.8000.
Placement Experience
In 2009, it was a recession period. There were fewer numbers of companies came to our college compared to which I saw in 2008. Most of the students of our class were interested in doing higher studying. So they opt for a Ph.D. program in various universities. And the others were placed indecently good companies.
College Events
We used to have many events which were both technical and also cultural. We used to organize various robot design contest during our techfest yearly once. We used to organized our yearly cultural program called Thomso. We used to celebrate our Bhavan day.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I don't remember the exact fee. It was a bi-yearly fee (per semester). But it was so less that one of my friends bought even a laptop from the stipend we used to get after the fee payment.
Campus Life
There were almost all types of sports both indoor and outdoor. Table tennis, badminton, carom, Gym, and many more facilities were there in each hotel. And for outdoor games like football, cricket, swimming, etc were there within our college boundaries.
Hostel Facilities
My hostel rooms were single rooms. The rooms were in good condition. They provided one single bed, one chair, one study table and a wardrobe. And about the mess, personally, I didn't like the food.
Exam Structure
Examination structure was like there were two internal exams along with one final sem exam. Both the internal exam carry 20% weightage and the final sem exam remaining 80%.
Faculty
The faculty of the college was very good, knowledgeable, impartial, and most importantly very helpful. They were ready to help clear your doubts anytime you come to them. They were very punctual, I don't remember a single class which any of them didn't take.
