A different kind of MBA experience

Every college has pros and cons. It's up to us on how to manage these. There are some problems but they have helped me to groom myself to become a better manager.

I took many entrance exam like MAT-98,CAT-80,SNAP-85,CMAT-99, XAT-80 I also gave UPES MET. I was eligible for COMES through both MAT and UPESMET score. GD and Interview were quite simple and easy to clear. I did not sit for any other institution as I wanted to have diverse exposure to domain specific courses that UPES offered.

Course curriculum is quite detailed and covers a wide range of areas. Suggestions given by students have been implemented by college to improve students industry readiness.

Internship was a good opportunity to gain in-hand industry experience. Students got offers from Maersk,K&N,Marks and Spencers,Titan,Johnson Tiles,Amul and more. Internships ranged from non paying ones to ones with stipends up to Rs 30000.

Previous batches have seen placements close to 100%. But mind it these are the students who are eligible having no backlogs and a particular grade point. Companies such as Godrej,LG,Maersk,Total Oil etc visit to recruit students offering packages from Rs 4.5 lac to Rs 9 lac. Some exceptional students have even landed with Rs 13-15 lac.

Cultural Main Event Uurja Academic Main Event Ignite other than the above numerous clubs like Sanskruti,Globetrotters etc have their own events such has Logistikas,Udaan, Marketing Mania etc.

Fees comes out around Rs 12 lac for the two years including lodging and expenses. The fee structure is a bit expensive. As it is in Dehradun other expenses also become a bit tad expensive.

Toppers of each MBA program are offered a credit note to reimburse their fees by around Rs 50000 other than the above I do not have any knowledge of any other scholarships offered by the college.

Numerous clubs keep students busy on campus. They conduct cultural,finance,marketing events through out the year. A huge ground with sports equipment for football, cricket and volleyball are available. But keep in mind that there are two campuses with different sporting facilities currently separated by about a km of open road.

Hostels are state of the art and the mess serves good food only problem is the location of college and hostel is a bit far away from civilisation.

2 semesters per year and a mid semester and a final semester exam per each semester. 30% weightage for mid and 50 % weightage for end Sem exam. 20% marks are reserved for internals.

Some very experienced faculty from the industry along with academic veterans. New professors were added on the request for specialised professors. Professors had adequate knowledge of their courses and they also shared their own experiences which made learning much more fun and relevant.
