Course Curriculum Overview
We have 2 semesters in each year and in every semester we have 6 subjects. There are 2 internal exams and one external exam in each semester. The curriculum is drafted according to the requirement of the course and no subjects were unnecessary included. Apart from theoretical skills, Practical skills were also taught so that we learn how to work in a practical environment. Labs were technologically equipped for us to learn in a better way.
Placement Experience
Yes, our college has a separate placement cell which organizes all the internship program and placement opportunities for the students. They also organize regular seminars and guest lectures to help the students with the scope of fields they can pursue.80% of the students get the jobs through campus placements only and they recruit the students for different fields like finance, marketing, accounting etc.The Big companies visit the campus are American express, EY, KPMG etc and the average package is almost 4 LPA in the beginning.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure of my college is quite feasible. As it comes under DU, the fee is affordable for a middle class student like me. The fee for B.Com(hons) is almost 31,465 for 3 years and it will increase as we move towards more technical courses. Also the students who get a good score in the entrance exams the fees is visibly reduced to a certain extent. With a quality of faculty and a good placement system the fees is quite reasonable.
Campus Life
Our college offers lots of extra-curricular opportunities for the students who wish to explore their path of creativity. This includes Theatre, dance, Film and photography and music. Also there are various social service societies like Parivartan, Enactus, etc for social minded students. Talking of sports our college has outstanding football, badminton and a cricket team. College takes a pride in being the home to the famous Sonnet Cricket Club. This club has trained many batsmen and bowlers for India on an international level.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors of my college are very helpful and friendly. They share their experiences regarding the internships programs which gives us confidence and motivation to perform better. They also help their juniors at the time of placements, what should be the do's and don'ts during the process. Some famous alumni are Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Kishore Biyani
Admission
I was a student of B.com(hons) in Sri Venkateswara college. I was a commerce student and got a decent score in my 12th board examination. I opted for this course as I was good in commerce and mathematics and this college is considered to be the best for commerce. Recently it has been ranked 9th for commerce by India today. Also the admission here is based on your 12th grades and a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in qualifying examination (entrance) with Mathematics and Business Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
Faculty
The Faculty of the college is well educated. They have done Post graduation or doctorates in their respective streams and they are very particular when it comes lectures and seminars. The faculty is basically a generic mixture of experienced and young ranging from freshly Phd holder to experienced research scholars. Lecturer's have their own tie up with the foreign universities to conduct the research work. Most of the Lecturers are author of either academic or research book. At the same time they are very friendly and supportive.
