The managment needs to modernise and make better use of the website.In this digital age important notifications including exam schedule and results need to be uploaded on the website for convenience of the students.
Entrance Preview
I had got into my post grads on the basis of my graduation marks. I had also managed to be selected for EFLU University,Hyderabad but i chose Burdwan University because of its closeness.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was good and evenly spread out through the four semesters. We had four papers of 50 marks each. In the last semester we had to choose our electives. We were offered Literary Theory,Indian English Literature and American Literature for two papers,we had to choose any one. And for the third paper we had to choose any one from Old English Literature,Translation Studies or Post Fifties Literature.
Internships Opportunities
No internship opportunities were available.And with no internships there was no stipend. Zero job related experience provided .Any internship which the students may have had mangaed to gain was totally from their own efforts.
Placement Experience
There was no placements either. Most of the students here either opt for Phd or pursue a degree in Education. No opportunity for any on campus placements.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It being a government institute the fees are very feasible.The monthly tution fees are 100 rupees and the examination fees are 450 rupees each semester. Plus there is a scheme of further reducing it for the needy students.
Fees and Financial Aid
The government offers various scholarships to the needy as well as single girl child through its Kanyashree scheme. These schemes can be availed throug the University.
Campus Life
The hostels organise their own freshers and farewell parties.They have a adjoining ground where they organise annual sports for the hosteliers.For the day boarders there is not much of a extra curricular life.The campus lacks a proper ground so games are not really in the question.The only places to hang out are the canteen and infront the library.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is not much strong especially from view of students .Few of the seniors are very helpful and guide us. Some of them have even come back as professors and they are very good at it.
Exam Structure
The exams are semester wise which means we have them twice a year. Mainly during Feb-March and July-August. They are quite nicely spread out and does not burden the student.
Faculty
The faculty were well qualified and most of them were student friendly .Although there is a certain professor who is very condescending and biased towards the students.
