Remarks

Without a hint of doubt, NIFT is India's premier fashion and design college. I always wanted to study here and I realised this dream. I had a an amazing journey at NIFT. Whatever I have achieved till now or will achieve in the future is because of my experience here.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very nicely designed and planned. My steam was Fashion Design so we learnt a lot about the history and progress of Fashion in the world. How it impacted the various societies. We also learn about the future trends and prospects of the industry. The exams were mainly practical based.

Placement Experience

The placements are very good in the college. Every student gets an offer form companies like Future group and Decathlon. Salary packages can go upto Rs 8 lakhs per annum. Internships are also undertaken by students to gain practical experience.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total fees for the course is Rs 11. 09 lakhs. This was a little bit on the expensive side for me but I was determined to do this course because the experience cannot be gained anywhere else. This is divided into the four years of the course.

Campus Life

There are sufficient labs available for the students to practice their craft. Gym, badminton court, cricket pitches etc are available for students. Various cultural occasions are celebrated in the college.

Admission

The admission in this course in NIFT is very tough. The minimum eligibilty to apply for the course is 10+2 from a recognised board with physics, chemistry and maths as subjects. We first write the Creative ability test and general ability test. Qualified candidates sit for the situation test. Then there is a group discussion and personal interview round. After all these steps the final list is declared.

The faculty is very helpful and cooperative. They have years of teaching as well as practical experience in the field. The teacher to student ratio is also very good. We got personal assistance and guidance from them throughout the 4 years of the course.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.
