The journey of video editing days

Course curriculum I can proudly say that the curriculum of this course made me technically sound to edit all kinds of videos of different genres professionally. The curriculum was designed by the founder of Dawn Studios, a well-known studio in the field of video editing. There was equal emphasis on technical and creative writing. We got hand on experience on editing film project as we were exposed to film industry. There are regular field visits to industry to learn industry outflow. The curriculum gave me the opportunity to work on the actual footage of the short film released by Nandita Das. This shaped my abilities and skills that made me stand in the video editing industry.

Placements The placement cell of the university is very active. There are over 100 recruiters for placements and projects. And over 40 volunteering and freelancing opportunities. The career progression assistance is provided by the placement cell which trains the students in soft skills that provide us with better exposure, grater insights and better practice to be career ready. There are internships and live project which are held as a part of lets connect initiative. My batch mates are placed in production houses, entertainment industry, media houses, television channels, advertisement agencies and media companies. I had interned for a month with National Geographic working on their wildlife documentary where I edited their videos thus gaining hand on experience.

The university in collaboration with Lakshmi Narayana Global Centre of Excellence organized a global music festival in the Pune city. This event saw the collaboration of Indian and international artists. There was a fusion of western and Indian music. Various international artists also performed in the event. It was very successful event across all the universities. There are students from all over the country. We interact and socialize with them.

Fee structure This being the 6 month course, my course fee was nominal. It was INR 90,000-1 Lakh depending on the type of practical we chose in the final month. This covered all the tuition fee and miscellaneous fee. I paid the fee online through net banking.

Campus life There are various events that take place in the campus such as calligraphy workshop, clay workshop, textile weaving workshop, Madhubani painting workshop. The center of excellence is set up inside the campus with primary focus on leadership development, data analytics, environment and sustainability, training and consultancy. The university has set up incubation center that facilitate the creation of ideas and inventions that benefit society and are ready by the end of the incubation program. It is a network of highly successful entrepreneurs who mentor us throughout our program.

The alumni network of the university is very active. There are several ways in which we can contribute to the university like student mentoring, story telling with the current batches, alumni leadership lecture series, supporting a start up, participating in international/national conferences, community involvement projects etc. There are alumni newsletter, city/ chapter meets. We meet our batch mates in these chapter meets to relive our older memories together. The alumni award is also given to those individuals who have reached pinnacle of their career and made significant contributions to the society.

Admission I was always keen to learn video editing. So I came across the certificate course in video editing of this university. Being one of the top universities of Pune, I quickly made my mind to take admission in the course. The eligibility requirement was passed 12th grade from any stream and from recognized board. I had applied online by filling the form and my name appeared in the final merit list. After all my documents were verified, I finally got admitted to the course and paid my fee.

Faculty We attended lectures of industry professionals. They used to visit the campus and deliver lectures on video editing in specific fields. They also shared their personal experience with us. We attended the guest lectures by renowned directors and producers who delivered their lectures on emerging trends in the film industry. Some of our faculty were the experts from the Film Institute, Pune. They were visiting faculty who interacted with us once a week.
