Remarks
Jamia Millia Islamia is a great university and it has remained in the top 15 universities as per the NIRF ranking. It is a central university and thus the fees for every course is very low. Although the fees is minimal but the campus is great with all the required facilities. Also, the faculty is very experienced. I chose Jamia because of its consistent top ranking and low fees. I chose BBA particularly because I have been a commerce student since school and I want to pursue MBA in future.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was good. The syllabus is updated at regular intervals so that the students get the exposure to the relevant subjects. The course includes a compulsory 6-8 weeks summer internship and the students have to prepare a project on the same as a part of Semester 4. In semester-5, the students are required to prepare a survey report. These projects allow the students to experience the industry and practical application of the theoretical knowledge. Apart from this, the faculty is great. They are very helpful and polite to the students and each faculty member has good amount of experience and expertise.
Internships Opportunities
I did a 6 weeks internship at Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd. Neemrana. My job profile during the internship was a trainee. There was no stipend given to me for this internship. A candidate has to submit his CV in Parle and talk to the concerned officials for internship. If they have a vacancy, they will appoint you.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities are growing gradually. The department has created its placement brochure and some companies came for hiring the students. Companies like Decathlon, TCS, Chegg India, etc came for campus placement. But, there is scope for improvement.
College Events
The campus life is good. Different departments conduct their cultural fests in February and March. The department of commerce and business studies conducts its annual fest called "Commercialese" in March. It includes dance competitions, singing competition, debates, painting, indoor and outdoor games and seminars where more than 15 colleges come to participate. There are many university level events as well. For example, every year, Talimi Mela or the Foundation Day is celebrated at a huge scale in the last week of October and the university conducts several seminars, conferences and inter-college competitions regularly.
Campus Life
Jamia provides good facilities to the students free of cost. There is a huge sports complex which has space for all kinds of sports. The students are provided with free wifi connection throughout the campus. The university has multiple libraries for respective departments and there a central library as well which is the biggest and it is the main library. The students can easily issue books using their id cards. Also, the university has got various labs for different departments.
Hostel Facilities
I had opted for hostel. The girls hostel has two campus. I was in the old hostel campus. The rooms are good but there are no single occupancy rooms. Most of the rooms are 3 sharing and few rooms are 2 sharing. There are few dormitory as well where 5 seats are available in a room. The hostel facilities are good overall. All the rooms are normal, it means no room has AC or cooler facility. If the girls wish they can buy their own cooler. The students get good food, reading room (with AC), TV room (with AC), washing machine, free wifi, canteen, and garden area. Although the hostel is good but it is difficult to get admission since the number of applicants is far more than the available seats. But, there are many PGs in the nearby areas.
