Entrance Preview

It is an exam called CENTAC held by the Pondicherry University. Since I was staying in Pondicherry and this was a reputed college I opted for this college.This involves a Multi choice aptitude test in Maths, Physics and Chemistry with negative marks for the wrong answers. I secured the 23rd rank overall and chose for Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course spanned over 4 years with 8 semesters. 5 Theory subjects in each semester and 3 practical sessions.The first year was an intro to engineering with English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Drawing. From the second year onwards the core subjects of both Electronics and Communication was introduced.In the final semester we had to submit a project as well.

Internships Opportunities

We didn't have an internship experience in college. This was not offered back then. The only stipend offered were for those who did their Post Graduation courses in the college. They were offered somewhere around 1Lakh a year.

Placement Experience

Since PEC (Pondicherry Engineering College) was the cream of the colleges in the University. We were the first pick.We had mass recruiters TCS, CTS, Infosys, CSC, Keane, IBM, Caterpillar come into college. Salary packages started off at around 3L PA and went to as high as 6L PA. We also had a rule that once a student gets placed, the student cannot attend another company for placement opportunities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since this was a Government collect the complete course was feasible. The annual expenditure for the whole month including the Hostel fees came upto around 50K 80k per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of any kind of scholarship/ loan offered by the college. There were special categories of seats offered for people in different quotas namely (Physically challenged, Sports persons etc).

Exam Structure

The exams and the labs were most of the times well spaced out and had a few days between them. It was not that hectic. At times when we had exams on consecutive days it was a bit hectic.

Students become eligible for placement from 3rd year 6th semester itself but the college does not bring any company for placement on time. 5 years back standard companies lkke tsc, hcl, cts etc used to come. But nowaday it is very rare. Lowest package is 2 lpa and highest package is 6 lpa. Average is 4 lpa. Very least students get placed. Try off campus. Do not believe the college

Know About Puducherry Technological University

Placement Experience:

By 7th Semester, students are eligible for Campus Placements and there are several companies that have visited our college during a course of 2-3 months and there were many offers made, highest package was of 9.5 LPA and the average is of 5-6LPA Students are getting Placed very well, and i have place already so my plan is to get into the job and excell in the IT Sector

Placement Experience:

PTU focuses on both research and placements, readying students for both the corporate world and self-development for higher studies or entrepreneurship. Top companies including Google, PayPal, etc. have taken students of PTU with high salary packages, one with around 40 LPA. Students are also made ready for higher studies in reputed institutes based on their interests.

Campus placemats are good companies visit campua at ever year for placement internship opportunities are less but placements both service and product based viait so if you have necessary skillss you will wgt placed the avergae salary is 12.6 lakhs and highest is 18 lakhs for samsing

I got into SMVEC First, after a month later, i got into my current college PTU in which everything was better than SMVEC, SMVEC is a lot more like a school, while PTU is more like a college where the staffs dont consider about any rules, but they be on time and perfect when it comes to studies. Life in Pondicherry Technological University
