Anonymous's Review On Indian Institute Of Information Technology - [IIIT], Una

I was actively looking for branch in computer science/information technology in any of the tier 1 collegewhich I was unable to get in any of the reputed NITs. So I decided to give myself a try in any of the IIIT.I started looking for reviews for several different iiit on the internet.I read some of the opinions of students on IIIT Una as well which were quite good.I had listed iiit Una in my college list during councilling period which ultimately got allotted in one of the round( seems to be the destiny lol).So I landed up here at IIIT Una with Information Technology as my branch.Obviously at first I wasn't happy here due to the transit campus in which it is running. It took some time to get yourself adjusted with the problems which was faced due to unavailability of permanent campus.But later on it went all well.As the program proceeded I found out that the coding culture of our institute was exceptional and some of our seniors were able to make out through some of the tough competition like ACM-ICPC etc. Which shows that the quality of students are exceptionally great.Talking about the faculty, they are great at teaching and quite hardworking. They helped a lot in adjustment in these challenging scenario and were quite supported at every step.Doubt solving and problem solving grew easy with constant teaching-learning process and routine evaluation and discussionAlthough we have unavailability of proper space for sports and other curricular activities, we manage to play and enjoy ourselves with the resources we have been provided with which actually developed a good sportsman in ourselves and got to know the quality of players the Institute is having.

Course curriculum has been developed keeping in mind the industrial knowledge an engineering student would require in the respective profession.The semester has been setup with the two routine cycle test and an end sem examination (theory+practical).Time to time assignments are given to have a grip upon the recent topics we have been taught.Faculties as previously mentioned are really good. One can discuss his academic related problems and one's personal issues if they are unable to find a solution. The faculty are great advisors and they support the students in almost every aspect which would help him grow eventually.Specific mentors have been allotted by the Institute to a groupwise distributed students who would discuss the issues with which students are struggling and provide them the solution if exist.This is a great initiative by the college which take care of their students in such a way.

Placement cell is constantly developing with every year and we have good amount of companies and startups that offers placement and jobs to the students.

Talking about campus life, at first it seems that you have been secluded from the majority of the college and all but after certain months you would get fond of all and this would become a mere excuse as you would not be compromised with the quality of education and skills.As mentioned earlier there are some limitations in conducting co curricular activities in transit campus 2 but still the students manage to make the best out of it which not hinder in their personality development.

Currently the Institute doesn't gives scholarship at institute level.Students can apply for scholarship which are provided by their respective state of belonging and can acquire that one.

Currently the Institute is operating through two transit campus, one of which is located in NIT hamirpur and other is located in Una at Dev bhumi group of institutions. It's been difficult sometimes in transit campus 2 as the students here lives separately from the majority of college that is in NIT campus.The permanent campus of the college is under construction in Saloh dist Unaand would probably the college would shift to its permanent campus from next academic year.

Hostel infrastructure in both the transit campus is quite good.In TC 2 we have been provided with quite spacious and cleaned rooms, each room comprising 3/4 students.The room have their personal washroom attached which is of great advantage as there is no hustle in getting ready up for morning.Hostel infrastructure is really good which eventually become Great in permanent in future.
