Remarks
I had to choose this institution as my HSC scores were below my expectations and the fact that it was the only institution that provided me with this course for affordable fees within my region (Southern Tamil Nadu).
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus was mediocre and only the honours courses were continuously updated all the other courses were based on older editions of Indian author books. A few good faculties in the department were supportive of student development. Industrial visits were not provided for the biotechnology department. Few students were provided with external projects in reputable industries in the final year.

Placement Experience
IT companies recruited students from all departments. The placement process is really pathetic but the some students obtain good opportunities based on networking with alumni. Alumni from the department are incredibly supportive and empathetic to their juniors. Few startups were started in the department but where wholly under the control of the guiding faculty and not the students.
College Events
Technical fests are usually fine in terms of the resource persons brought to deliver lectures. Computational workshops are organized periodically. Non-technical events are not well organized. Cultural events are almost non-existent within the university but students are encouraged to participate in interdepartmental and intercollegiate fests to complete specific credit requirements. While we are encouraged to participate in workshops and competitions in other institutions, external participation in college fests is poor.
Fees and Financial Aid
Student loans are provided for students with poor financial background. Top scoring students are provided merit scholarship, which involves 50% fee waiver for the upcoming year.
Campus Life
The sports facilities were up to date. We had a gym, indoor stadium and grounds within and outside the hostel. Wifi connection is slow and there are download limits. The central library is fairly good with recent editions of books but the department libraries are poor. Most labs do not have any funding so the labs that do have funding and manage to procure equipment are reluctant to allow undergraduate students to operate them. There is also an acute shortage of chemicals and glassware in the department.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel resources are fine in the first year hostels and the condition takes a turn for the worst after that. Mess food is edible but not appealing to most students. Hostel rooms are shared between 3 and 4 students depending on the hostel which the student gets allotted. Single rooms and better facilities like special mess are available upon payment of extra fees 20-30k annually.
