Remarks

College is a really nice place to be in. The students are very lovely, the seniors are very friendly, professors with all their experience and knowledge are great, the college staffs are very easygoing but the college management is a bit hardshell to crack. For any small work you need to e-file it to the principal and who knows when he would reply to that. Till that time your work gets stuck. The college fees should not include extra charges which are not necessary.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Professors of our institution are one of the best in D.U. So there is no doubt about the knowledge imparted to us. If I'll talk abut the curriculum being industry-specific then I don't think I would agree. This college being a graduation college, it does not provide any industrial based studies but, if you are looking for getting job after your graduation then there are academic societies in which you can participate and improve your corporate skills and you'll be all ready for placement. In this institution most of the students from Mathematics and Economics courses get placed, there is no industry visits from college but the respective societies have their own visits to the particular places they are interested in (example: The Leadership Cell takes their members to a Parliament trips). So the college studies are not that industry driven but if you would be a member of the society you are interested in, you would get all the exposure needed for you to be a good candidate for placement.

Placement Experience

4

There are many MNC who visit our college for placement. Some of the companies that offer their job to Maths students are Nomura, Accenture, McKinsey&Company, Citi Bank, Teach For India, American Express, EY, etc. For placement their is a all student Campus Placement Cell(CPC) that takes charge of the placements held in the college. In the first year itself they register each student into their database and then from the first year we can get internship. Most of the internship provided to the first year student is byTier-2 companies, but in second year we get internships from tier-1 companies. These all internship offers are communicated to us through Campus Placement Cell of our college. I'm currently doing an internship which I got through CPC.Most of the Maths students gets placed as Business Associate, Marketing or Business Analyst, etc.Their is no training provided by the college for the placement but if the company is providing some training then CPC provides it. Now in this pandemic times the CPC conducts many webinars by great personalities, Alumnus and great corporate leaders which can provide the insights of the corporate world in this pandemic situation and so the student could prepare themselves for the upcoming challenges in the corporate world.

College Events

5

Each society has its main event of the year and is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and fun. Our college fest is very closed and secured, as no outside participation is encouraged and there is a very strict checking during those days. So the participation in this fest is only limited to the students of the college. The fest can not be said ideal, but yeah anyway whatever we get we are happy with that^_^.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for the Mathematics Honours course is almost 45,000 for the whole Academic Year which is one of the highest in the whole DU circuit. There is some unnecessary fees that is being taken by the college like the lawn maintenance fees and more that I think so is not a great deal. Yes their is transparency in fee-breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any scholarship but many of my friends did apply for the scholarship and did get them. We get the knowledge about scholarships through the morning assemblies and notice boards. To apply we need to submit a letter in the college office. The results are put on the notice board.

Campus Life

This college is a very diverse college, students being from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. There are many regional societies like Malayalam Literary Society, etc. There are many other society like dramatics, debate, Hiking, Hawabaz(Frisbee), Dance, Music, Economics,Maths, Civil Services Forum, and many more almost 50 societies which develop our soft skill and help us to meet new people and interact with them.We have our college team in most of the sports, with Basketballbeing one of the main sports played in the college, i"m also a part of the Badminton team of the college. There is a well developed gym too. We have a special place known as the The climbing Wall where you could see the Hiking society members always practising there. The Labs are well maintained and developed.

Hostel Facilities

I did apply for the Residence( In Stephens we don't call them hostel we call it residence ^_^) but I did not make the cut for it. So, i found a PG nearby in Kamala Nagar, its about 2Km away from my college and I can walk to my college from my PG. It costs me 8500 per month including food and excluding electricity. I have a non AC double sharing room with washing machine available for the students staying there. I think so my PG is a good bargain and I could not have got such a PG at any better rate. Just one issue that its a Veg PG and I'm a Non Veg foodie, but this problem is also solved as my PG is located in a market place where everything is nearby whether it be KFC, MacDonalds, Subway, or anything else.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior are really welcoming. They talk to us and are very friendly. They explained everything about the college and the future very clearly and helped in with all our needs for the 1st year and now its our turn to do the same with the juniors arriving in the college. The Alumni network is great in the college. We can frequently see alumni visiting the college, the also take webinars, explaining us the importance of enjoying the college life and also explaining the required skills to compete in the real life outside the college.

Admission

If I'll talk about why I opted this course, the answer would be that Maths was my second option, first was Economics Honours but i didi not get through the interview of economics but got through Mathematics one so yeah I'm in Mathematics now. For the students Mathematics is also a good course to join for but yeah if you are only interested in the application part of Maths then do talk to a Mathematics Honours senior before opting this course. Why did I choose this college? the answer would be who would not choose St. Stephen's, its one fo the oldest and prestigious institute of India. According to me we don't choose this college the college chooses us(PS: Our Principal's favourite dialogue is " You are the CHOSEN once" :)).I got into this college through Christian quota as this is a minority institution. For the admission process we first have to register ourself to the Delhi University registration form as this college is under DU. Then you have to fill the St. Stephen's college's admission form which you can get on their website. After that, their will be a separate cut off for St. Stephen's College which will be published on their website. The cut off will have the percentage cut off for different stream and different category students. Then according to your cutoff you have to apply for the courses that you want to opt and also see whether you clear the cut off for those courses in the cut off list. Then, their will be the interview for each of the courses you have applied for (PS: The interviews tend to take a long time sometimes it goes till 2:00 A.M. in the mornings). They ask you questions about the coarse that you have applied for and also if you have applied through christian quota then you will have some biblical questions too. Then there will be a final Merit List that will be released this also will be there on the college website and this will also have some students names who have been put in waiting list, don't be disheartened if your name is there in the waiting list as the previous year most of the waiting list students got through and many of them are my friends. So yeah this is the admission procedure.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties are very hardworking and knowledgeable. I had herd before that in college the Professors would not even mind whether the students are attentive in the class or not, but here the scenario is completely different. In this college most of the teachers ask questions to the students who are siting in the last bench(I can say with all the experience because I'm one of the back benchers :)) ), this shows the work ethic that these professors endure and one more thing that they don't take leave that often so we gotta study almost everyday. Each professor has almost 60-70 lectures scheduled per class every semester. The average age of the professors would be around 38. Most of them have a Masters degree and all the HOD's and senior professors are PhD in their respective subject. We also have tutorials in which if a student could not clear his/her doubt in the class then they have a chance to clear his/her doubts. In tutorial the class is divided into smaller groups so that it would be easy for the professor to focus on each student. The whole Delhi University Curriculum is not industry-specefic so we cannot expect the professors to discuss on that, but still they try to teach and ask us to develop soft skills, as those will be used for rest of our life.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant as it contains useful concepts which a management student should know. And the concepts are very comprehensive and easy to understand. Examples are given in the curriculum which prepares us for the real world. Some teachers use the presentation based teaching which is good and should be encouraged. The exams are not that difficult for one who is atleast decent in studies.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.
