The New college

our professors were one of the best and the management was cordial.

In terms of corporate law & ethics its a better course than a BCom as it dosent focus too much on accounting.Itasa three year course with six semester exams all valuated externally and the first four semesters had a second language which i found to be a irritant.

We did not have many campus placements during that time a few tech companies like TCS,Polaris used to come for computer science students. I have interned for two months with India Cements which is one of the largest cement maufacturing company in south india.

Our college was very strong in the field of cricket and winners of many inter college events apart from that we used to have cultural events for all departments once a year. Every year elections for every department was held which gave an insight of the democratic process.

The fee was very low as our government at that time covered a large portion of our fee, fee was collected every semester and we had the option of paying by cash of DD. i reckon the fee to be at that time 2000-3000 per semester. The fee structure was completely transparent and no extra deposits were charged unless used.

I did not avail any scholarship thou the college had the same for financially needy students and the fee was quiet low.

The New college was a all boys college,later on the introduced a co-ed structure for their architect course which is one of the best in the city. we had a 50 plus room hostel and many labs for science students, we had a library which was common to all departments, we had a mixed group of students from different religious background and a very secular atmosphere.

They were very friendly and would help in case of any need. We have many alumni in which ours has 50 plus students and we often interact.

Was the only college offering my course, the focus of the course was more on learning the functioning of a corporate company with more details on laws, equity than accounting. I got the admission on merit and because i applied by the due date. the course also had a compulsory two month internship which we had to find on our own.

each semester had 5 different subjects including english and second language was there for the first four semesters, we had 8-10 professors for the three years all headed by the head of commerce department who taught us for the entire three years. one of our professors of corporate law even went on and became a judge for Income tax. The faculty was excellent, all our professors were crisp and forthcoming with any help required.
