My college review

I am so fortunate to study in a wonderful college. Its like a dream to get a seat in my college and if I get a chance to study again I would like to thank my management at IITM.

In my college all my course materials are research driven and we do have hands on experience with all live experimental study where we had access to good softwares ( thanks to my professors ) CFM studies, wave flumes ( Only present in all of asia ), and we had individual hands on experience with the machineries, workshops. In my final year project we are provided license keys to high cost CFM softwares. Our exam structure is two quizes and one final semester all conceptual exams. Our placement team is top notch and we had a lot of companies coming to choose students in various fields. One mandatory industrial course was organized for us by the college and if interested we were sent for many others with the help of professors contacts.

Sanmar Shipping Ltd, Goa Shipyard Ltd, Mazagon Dock Shipyard, Vedam Design, Cyber marine, Keppel fell offshore Singapore, Transocean. The general steps is a test, hr round, technical round followed by interview.Tentative percentage 75- 90 %. No we were selected based on our merits and institute will only guide us if we want to have any special needs to develop our aptitude and English.

SAARANG (cultural festival) with a budget of 1. 5 crores which is the biggest in south India. Many colleges participate in this festival and it is usually for five days (day 1 : classical night, day 2 Choreo night, day 3 & 4 Popular night, day 5 heavy metal bands play). Shaastra ( technical festival ) again this event is top class in South India which is very big. Many students all over india register and visit our campus during this time. This event is for 5 days with tech events takes place.

Fee structure is feasible and most of the students in our college get scholarships and we can get educational loan easily without any collateral. Modes of payment can be done through online payment also and forward receipt. There is no management fee in our college and all the admission are though pure merit only. Yes my colllege provides transparency in fees collected.

Yes college offered a lot of scholarship opportunities, There is an eligibility criteria where we have to have a minimum cgpa to secure certain scholarships. Annually were were paid with tuition fees and hostel fees was paid by us. Average 50000 per year was paid to the students.

The sports, labs and competitions were of top class and we had all the facilities more than we could only ask for and that too the gymkhana and other facilities were of international standards. Gender ratio was boys : girls was 50 :1 ratio. All ethnic students used to be there for students exchange programs and all type of economically weak were there since it was of pure merit anyone can study priovided if they clear the entrance exam.

Yes, I was in hostel with a single room occupancy. In my college students are allotted single rooms from first year only with the state of the art facilities. We were provided with washing machines, sports equipments, 24 hour internet with good speed, dedicated tv room.

Yes, our alumni were helpful for the students who were no able to pay their fees and infact we do have a very good network where all support comes from various alumni who graduated at different years. They provide support for all students who deserve the needs.

My all india rank in JEE Exam was 1600, I wanted to pursue a unique course after my 12th standard and so opted for this course. My Grandfather insisted me to pursue this course since this was a unique opportunity to involve in the design of ships. I had the option to choose civil engineering but in INDIA only our college and IITR kharagpur had this course so I took this course. I opted IIT MADRAS through my rank and I got this college.

For a 3 credit course we had 50 lectures in one semester, Basically we had 3 classes in a week for a 3 credit course. All my professors at college were Well educated ( phd ) and top class teachers who were always welcoming during my college days. They were more into research and helped us to have a idea through our btech projects in our college days.
