Remarks

In short if you can survive on your own and be cautious about your future all the time, it will be an experience worth having. Make sure to participate in all club activities especially roborics or something technical. Also make sure not to go down in your marks. Its not that of a huge deal to score good marks in college. Always keep a clear idea in your mind about what will happen at the end of 4 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

Curriculum was outdated durung 2016. But KTU has updated the course structure to updated and relevant topics. I was learning about technologies in 1980s in some subjects which I believe has been done away with in latest curriculum. We conducted several IVs but most of them just a joke. If you want to be a professional, learn, be a part of club activities, participate in tech fests and be good in labs. If you are only interested in observing such events for fun, you will end uo being looser eventually. Engineering is about doing than studying.

Placement Experience

1.5

Internships are extremely rare and reserved only for electronics / CS students. Other dept students have to hunt internships on your own. You woukd be lucky if you are from civil or mech and landed and internship from college. Faculties in these dept are not very keen on heloing students get internships. A lot of good companies do come solely on account of good quality of students. But functioning of placement committe is depressingly bad. Faculties are constantly failing to connect to employers regarding placements. Still the college has by far the best placement record in whole of kerala. Also, anything can happen in a couple of years.

College Events

4

There are lots of opportunities for fun and interesting activties in the college as there would be some event every month. The tech fest, cultural fest and department level fests are all great and at par with NITs. They are also good arenas for students to shine and showcase their talents. Collge doesn't have a good ground or field. Its small and not quintessential of a college of such a huge brand name. Indoor court is good though. There is a gym but it is small.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Around 8k per year for fees and other related expenses. House rent and living expenses is a major component which adds another 80k to your annual expense list (unless you are staying in college hostel). Fee van be paid online. Usually class representatives used to collect the fee of all students and pay together.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are several scholarships available, the notification for most of which will be available from college office or from faculties.

Campus Life

Campus life was awesome when I was studying. I studied in mechanical dept where there were no female students. There are lots of clubs and groups in the college. The dance group and robotics group are very impressive with well build structure and enthusiastic students. College doesn't have a good ground or field. Its small and not quintessential of a college of such a huge brand name. Indoor court is good though. You can play sports all you want but the sports team (like football team, cricket team etc) are all weak. Not because there is a shortage of talents but mentoring is absent. There is a gym but it is small.

Hostel Facilities

No. I did not. College hostel rooms have improved a lot since I left. There is vacancy for accomodating a lot of students (M and F). Food is top notch as it is managed by hostelers themselves through an external vendor. I stayed outside with friends and signed up in a local mess for food, which are available in plenty if you can search for it.

Alumni/Alumna

College placements function mainly because of alumni network. But campus faculty and alumni are in opposite turfs in many issues which have turned contentious over the years.

Admission

You need to crack Kerala Engineering Entrance exam and come in 1st 1500 to get any branch, if you are from general category. Admission occurs through a centralised process which occur after entrance results are published. Classes usually start around August.

Faculty

3

Quality of labs are awesome but quality of faculty deteriorates as semesters pass by. They are all fixed salary govt employees and cares two hoots abount mentoring students. So you are on your own. (You get to learn a lot of self management and self learning).
