Remarks
We are considered as superhumans. Sometimes we get the notice about the vivas one day prior the viva. Preparing in one day becomes crucial, but still our professors want us to do that & perform well in the viva. We aren't prepared for any placement activity. Any activity other than lectures need to be done before 10. 30 or after 5. 30. i.e. not in the official college hours. Teachers expect you to attain lectures even during the sports week, no matter how tired you are. good thing is you are not detained no matter how much your attendance is & I think, this overshadows all the bad points.
Course Curriculum Overview
Each and every part in syllabus is taught, but through exam point of view. If you want to excel into the course, you will have to put your own extra efforts. No spoon feeding will be done. Syllabus is out-dated & professors has to teach that only. But mostly all professors try to keep you updated while teaching an outdated syllabus. Exam structure is like this. 15 Marks for class test 1 + 15 Marks for class test 2 + 10 Marks for internals + 60 marks for end sem examination = 100. CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) is there. You have to gain 22 credits in every semester to get promoted to next sem. Industrial visits are organized once or twice a year.
Placement Experience
L & T, Atlas Copco, Siemens, TCS Ninja, TCS, Crompton Greaves, Greaves Cotton, Epitome, Endurance, Varroc, Lodha Group of Industries, PGS- companies that mostly visit every year. Procedure: Aptitude- Group discussion- Personal interviewsA CGPA beyond 6. 5 without any current backlog is expected for you to be eligible to appear for aptitude. However, this varies from company to company. Some companies won't let you appear for aptitude if you have even 1 dead backlog & some companies will let you appear for aptitude even if you were year down (YD) for 1 year. So the tentative CGPA varies for companies. Students having CGPA above 7. 5 were most likely placed in previous years. The institute, unfortunately does not take any training that prepares you for the placement process. Soft-skills training is organized every year, but that isn't of much help. The institute just makes sure that enough number of companies are coming, students have to take care of the rest. But seniors also help here.
College Events
1. WINGS- Technical fest2. Smart India Hackathon- SIH3. Elegance- Cultural fest4. ANTARANG- Annual Gathering5. ABHIYANTRAM- A technical event organized by mechanical engineering department6. Institute sports week7. Departmental sports weekI would rank 9/10 to this institute for the events organized. WINGS & ELEGANCE are top-notch national events organized where students from various colleges participate. You learn so many skills while managing these events, these events shape your personality. The participants are ample for the events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Program fees is 75000 for a year. Payment mode recommended is cash, but other options like Demand draft were available when I paid my college fees. No extra charges need to be paid to secure admission. But an exam fees of around 1000/- is to be paid every semester. Also, re-exam fees is less as compared to other non-autonomous institutes. College does provide transparency. Detailed fee structure is available on the college website.
Campus Life
Campus life over here is amazing. You don't have much restrictions, you can play, bunk, eat, have fun in the very same campus. You get unofficial freshers' party & farewell parties at 3-5 star hotels. Gender ratio is good. The number of girls & boys is almost equal in every class for branches except civil & mechanical. In my class, we are 25 girls & 50 boys. Basketball, volleyball court is there, You can play chess, table tennis or any sport which you want. Team AARAMBH of this college recently gave presentation to ISRO & now they are on their way to make a satellite. Team AARYAN participates in SAE BAHA, where they make an all-terrain vehicle. This team got AIR-1 for virtuals this year. Team Formula GECA participated in formula bharat where they make a real-life formula sized vehicle. Team ROBOCON participates in ROBOCON competition & secures great rank every year. There are various cultural societies like firodiya, purushottam where you can act or write plays. Catalyst is the annual magazine of the college. You can even work for it. Also there are other clubs like writer's club, dancing & singing club, Samvedana club, Club for social services, etc. In a nutshell, the college doesn't compromise on your overall development.
Hostel Facilities
I did not opt for hostels. But if you are someone who doesn't stay in Aurangabad & are thinking of choosing this institute, I'll suggest you to go for it. Because the expenses are very low if you are thinking of living in the hostel. The annual fees of hostel for 1 student is just1300/-. That is shocking. You get to live in a hostel for a year for just 1300/- rs. The hostels are also too good & clean & spacious. You'll have to worry about the mess only, the rest is taken care of by the government. There is one room for two students & is big enough for two students. The room is wide, big & airy enough. Two cupboards, two tables, two chairs, two beds are there in every room. The hostel is kept really clean. It's cleaned twice a day. You have to clean your own room, but the varandas, washrooms are cleaned twice a day. The hostel has two-three washrooms at every floor. There's library & a study room & terrace is also good place to study. In the middle of the hostel, big sitting space with tiles is provided for hostel farewells & playing sports.
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors are amazing, they help you in studies, with books, notes, question papers, financially, even with your breakups. You get to work with your seniors in various college events. They tell you about their experiences, about how to prepare for various exams, about how to take decisions. Student-alumni meets happen every year. Seniors & alumni are really helpful. They help us to find internships. For various teams that participate in SAE BAHA, Formula Bharat & Robocon, seniors & alumni also help to get sponsorship. Some of the seniors will be intimidating, but most of them are really "cool". There;s no culture of ragging. You can even chill with your seniors.
Admission
I had secured 132 marks in MHT-CET- 2017. I wanted to do mechanical engineering right from the beginning, so in my cap round form, I didn't opt for any other branch than mechanical. I got the seat for mechanical engineering in GECA in the very first round. Infact, the first ladies quota seat for mechanical engineering was allotted to me. I went to ARC center to freeze the option. Later, I paid the college fees & got admitted finally. The college lectures started on 1st august 2017. The reason behind why I chose this institute was because of it's location. It's in my home-town. I couldn't afford hostel fees if I would've chosen another college. Second reason was the autonomy status. Autonomous institutes have so many advantages over non-autonomous ones. Any problem that occurs regarding your registration numbers, scholarships, backlogs is solved withing the college premises. You talk to your faculty about your problem, he/she tells you whom to approach to solve the problem, you go to that particular person, they tell you the procedure & problem is solved within a day. Third reason is off-course the hype that has been created about this college. People look at you differently when they hear your college name. Fourth reason was the placements.
Faculty
4 lectures & 2 practicals are scheduled every day. There's different faculty for every subject of a class. Some of the senior professors are PHD holders & have huge experience in teaching. Every faculty tries to make interaction between students & industries. Ready engineering activity, soft-skills training are organized. Also, presentations are given by teachers, problem solving is also done. But the pace of teaching is little slow at the beginning & it grows when exams are near. I'm just satisfied with the faculty, neither happy nor dissatisfied.
