Remarks

The infrastructure can be improved in a lot of ways.

Course Curriculum Overview

Forestry is a field that requires practical knowledge more than theoretical one, so most of our studies are done in the fields with the assistance of our teachers and trained farmers. The practical work includes sowing, growing and taking proper care of the plants and learning about the conditions they require to grow.

Placement Experience

4.5

The college bears Horticulture and Forestry fields both of which have very less scope in the private sectors and have government jobs mostly for which one has to clear certain tests so university doesn't have much say or do in the placements.

College Events

4

University holds a lot of competitions, seminars, fests in which students from related universities all over the country are invited. There are a few celebrations welcoming the new students every year. College holds debated and inter-batch competitions almost every other month.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are two types of seats in the university, one is the general seat and the other is self financed. The fees of general seats range from 20,000- 25,000 while for self financed it's 60,000-65,000 per semester. So it's comparatively higher than other national universities.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are for the students who've topped the entrance exams, or topped in there respective degrees.

Campus Life

70% of the population includes girls in the college, sports and extracurricular activities are all taken into proper consideration. Everything is held very nicely. Since it's a national level university, there are a number of competitions or seminars held every other month.

Hostel Facilities

I'm a hosteller and the hostels are well facilitated with all the necessities, rooms and washrooms are all well equipped, BSc students live in sharing of 3 per room, MSc students 2 per room while PhD students are given separate rooms each. The mess has good food and even the mess bill spend exceed 1500-2000 a month at max.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni meets are held every 2-3 years and seniors are very helping and adjusting. Seniors help in all sorts, such as notes, assignments etc.

Admission

The admissions are done on the basis of entrance exam marks, the students scoring highest in the entrance test get admissions in there choice of course according to the marks scored plus class 12th percentile. The university has two other colleges under their assigned one in Hamirpur the other in Mandi, but only the topers get admission in the main university campus.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is well educated with most professors having doctorate degrees some even working as scientists. They are very helping towards the students and other staff. The university bears a healthy environment overall. Not only the teaching faculty is good but the other departments have equally helping people too.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I liked horticulture .This course is very well applied in real world in cultivation and growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers and horticulture also has job opportunities in private sector. There are some improvements like more practical learning, real world exposure etc. that could be made to make this course more effecgive in real world application. The exams are conducted per semester and the difficulty level of exams is average.
