Remarks
1. NIT, Surat is a reputed government college with NIRF 2017 rank 8 (NIT). 2. The college is located in posh area with almost all the facilities nearby:- Airport (15 mins), Railway Station (20 mins), Restaurants, Cinemas, Shopping Malls, Parks, Dumas Beach (25 min) and all kind of shops (hardware, electronics, electrical, stationary) 3. Mother Teresa Bhavan (Girls Hostel) have single room system. 4. There is a SBI Branch of SVNIT. 5. Electrical Engineering is a core subject and has comparatively more government seats than non core branches.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum of my college was updated on 2019. During my first year, we were supposed to study few basic subjects of almost all branches. Now, first year subjects are more focused on their respective branches.
Placement Experience
Companies like Reliance, Siemens, LandT, JP Morgan, MG Motors, Tata, DE Shaw, Godrej, Public Sapient, Aditya Bajaj, Credit Suisse, John Deere, MasterCard, Infosys and many more visit us every year for recruitment. The average package of B.Tech is around 6 LPA, highest being around 30 LPA and lowest around 3 LPA. The placement percentage of B.Tech is around 60% -70%.
College Events
The biggest fest of our college is called "SPARSH". Students from all over Gujarat are invited. SPARSH is divided into two parts, one is technical and other is non technical (dancing night, singing night, celebrity night etc). Another event called "Shamiyana" is held every year which is only for Svnitians. Shamiyana is more like a bonfire event, where bonfire is lit and students form a big circle, inside which participants can perform anything they want. There is an annual cricket tournament known as "MMNCT" named after a late student of our college.
Campus Life
The campus is 250 acres big. Most of the land is covered with trees and greenery. We have 10 hostels (9 boys and 1 girl), 2 classroom complexes, 1 canteen, dispensary, bank, ATM, music room, central library, 2 medium size halls, gym, basketball court, badminton court. There is one big ground where most of the functions and events take place (Garba, College Fests, Freshers Party). Each branch has their own building and laboratory. There are lawns where students sit around in their groups, jamming, eating and socializing.
Hostel Facilities
Girls hostel is called "Mother Teresa Bhavan (MTB)". MTB is 9 floors tall including terrace. Each floor has 100 rooms and 1 common study room. The ground floor has 1 big mess and a laundry room. There is a small garden area in front of the building and few swings and benches. There are 4 washrooms on each floor with around 5 shower rooms and 8 toilets. There are geyser in washrooms and coolers for drinking water.
