Diksha Ray's Review On DRIEMS University, Cuttack

I opted this college because I had no choice,I have financially unstable background. I found the fees feasible. Moreover the admission cell told they will be giving scholarship (which was false,he lied to my father).They were very nice during the time of admission which was there true trap. Nothing else was luring about this college.

As this is the pandemic era,classes have to be online. 3 out of the 6 subjects were fairly conducted through online classes but for the rest which included my main subject COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, the teachers just gave the notes and we all students gave exams this way only. No teaching for rest of the subjects. I belong to b.tech branch and my teacher is basically busy in grabbing more students into the college instead of teaching. Like when you can't teach the rest why are you wasting others' life. Curriculum will just make you a book worm. No real practical knowledge and no worshop. New session's time tables is out,but the teachers are least punctual to take a class. Lots of complaints to the HODs and Principal but they do not pay a heed. The only thing they are interested in is your annual fee. And if you are an outsider then you are gonna suffer the worst. The first language they utter is odia. Some teachers don't even understand basic English. So language stands as a major barrier. Only few faculty like 1 or 2 you'll find genuine. If you are good enough in buttering and need no knowledge you will survive. The worst part of the faculties are that if you want to keep your point of veiw they take it as an offense and start avenging upon you through academics.

Companies like tech mahindra, TCS, cape gemini and few visit the college though only the students who were true in studies and have done some self development course grabs the job. I expect the rate of placement to be decreased in few years as the teachers are not focussing at basic knowledge at all.

No such interesting and good thing happened during our session. Even the new admission batch of 2019 was not given fresher's party. No annual function was held. Only few functions were observed which were of no significance. Too much partiality with girls. Some shitty rules like you have to wear only kurti with duppata,cannot wear jeans in the campus in first year which truly showcases their narrow mentality. If a girl has male friend they are looked down upon and even scolded.

Well they made a fake promise of providing scholarship of 10,000 which they never gave me. No loans are available, you have to manage this of your own.

From outside it will look good but looks are often deceptive. Some classes don't have fan working well. The admission cell lied to us while admission that they will provide us with a bus so that we can go to our respective labs which is at distance no such facility was provided ever. I would like to mention specifically the Basic Electrical Lab,there is no facility for students to sit. We had to perform our lab standing continuously for 3 hrs. They claim of having free wi-fi but no they do not provide so,even other networks do not function well. Its located at such a rural place. The so called sports complex is only for boys not for girls.

4 students in one room with common bathroom,only 3 sets of bathroom in each floor. The first floor has a problem of water lodging in rainy season. The food in mess is below average. We often encounter insects in our food which upon complaining the Admin says "Its common.No problem in that". I do not understand when the fees of girls and boys hostel is same why is there difference in facilities. No cupboard in girls hostel,maids only work weekly and even there is different menu in both the hostel. Its once happened our tube light was fused. We had no light to study. Yet they did not repair it till now. The behaviour of some seniors is worst. They are more interested in junior's life than in theirs. I've seen the superintendent and the seniors ganging up against the junior students from other states which was pathetic. There is some filthy rule of wishing your seniors whenever you see them as a way of paying respect which they do not deserve a bit. They can even mentally harass you for this. Only few of them were good.
