Remarks
Delhi University is a very famous institution and getting an admission in its constituent north campus college was itself a major factor that attracted me. The course content and the faculty were phenomenol too. Also the kind of academic exposure that the college/university offers in terms of exchange programs, seminars, workshops, educational field trips etc is unparalleled. The decent crowd and the relatively safer environment within the university's north campus can also be considered as an important if not major factor.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was extremely interesting and well balanced. We had themes from both world and Indian history as constituents of our course. There were regular theoretical (instructive and interactive) and tutorial (discussion based) classes. The entire course programme was interspersed with seminars, workshops, discussions, talks, paper presentations, local and long distance field trips. Our department also organised a department fest and several intra departmental sports activities. The faculty was well versed and had complete authority over their respective subjects. The only thing lacking was the access to audio visual technologies and equipments for more interactive learning sessions.
Placement Experience
My own course was not a very job oriented one therefore I do not know much about the placement and job opportunities available at my college but we do have a dedicated placement cell functioning regularly at our college.
College Events
The campus has a really decent crowd with various co curricular societies dedicated to different interests ranging from music, dance and drama to photography, creative writing and entrepreneurship. All these societies organise various activities and initiatives throughout the year along with an annual festival. The college also has NCC and NSS wings where students can enroll. The highlight event of the entire year is the annual college festival which is graced by various performers and celebrities in addition to the indigenous talent of the college itself. It is attended in large numbers by students from various colleges.
Campus Life
My college (Kirori Mal) has a sprawling WiFi equipped, differently abled friendly campus with demarcated academic and administrative blocks, a hostel building, sports complex, academic and cultural auditorium, a seminar room, computer and science labs, rooms designated for various academic departments and co curricular societies and an IT equipped spacious library. There is though some lag in the maintenance of the facility.
