Remarks
The college had a good reputation that ranked above quite a few IITs too, particularly in the branch i had chosen. It had great statistics and advantages when it came to placements especially for CSE.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is a popular opinion that the CSE curriculum is quite outdated and some faculties would also agree. It gives you a solid foundation in topics but expects you to seek out further relevant knowledge on your own. The institute has a center for handling internships which increases the chances of industrial exposure. Additionally you would have to seek out opportunities on your own. As with every department, there are good teachers and bad. Our Discrete Math professor in particular was great and really made his students think and learn intuitively.
Placement Experience
Since I just finished first year the placements arent applicable to me yet. But you build a strong network with seniors in college and especially the technical clubs on campus help with referrals.
College Events
Campus life is honestly quite fun on a daily basis. The college beach is a common chill spot and always has some students playing. Our technical fest is not that Big and doesnt attract as much crowd as the cultural fest Incident does. Incident is three wild days of fun and all college students and those from nearby colleges or participants from other nits also show up
Campus Life
The campus is quite old and expansive. Some of the buildings seem older than they are due to the harsh rains. Despite this, renovations are always being done and there is now a new modern sports complex thats still coming up. upto 2GB wif cap is given to each student which is quite sufficient. The new library is also being set up and isnt in use for issuing as of yet. The labs have all necessary equipment an some special expensive equipment that you can request access to for any preoject
Hostel Facilities
The hostels for first years is quite run down and stuffy and definitely takes some getting used to. One thing everyone finds quite absurd is the indian toilets the communal washrooms. While boys have a room for three, shared by three people, for girls, # of us live in a space really meant for 2. This gets better in later years with newer hostels and single occupancy. Unless you live close by, hostels are compulsory, with no other option nearby such as PG.
