JEEVAN CHETRY's Review On Tezpur University - [TU], Tezpur

First of it is in my local city which I know very well. I was some how aware about the prestige and the study environment of the campus. One of the reason may be it is a closed campus which means it will give enough support and care to the students studying over there as a part the University even after being an alumni of the prestigious Tezpur University. The reason for opting the course is I wanted to pursue degree in commerce and also a good platform with pride institute to start your feet to the competitive world. Although there are many issues and shortcomings with the faculties, opportunities, etc. as compared to other departments of the campus but one thing can be said that the School of Management Sciences where the Department of commerce comes under is technically advanced than any other department.

The course curriculum and the course syllabus that the Department of commerce allows is highly appreciable. Our department provides advanced and updated syllabus. Talking about the industrial exposure some experts from different fields are invited to provide some external knowledge to make us able to face the organisational world. The department also provides some industrial tours ao as to get live into how the organisation works but the department has not fulfilled the required number of visits that a batch should get, may be due to the faculty or the Hod or else. Now when we talk about the faculties some of the professors are highly qualified as well as very good at teaching skills. But some of them are well qualified with degree as well as ego and are not good at teaching. A teacher is one who is a friend to a student and is a guide who directs the path and also tries to make them achieve for every success where in some cases they may have failed to achieve due to some reason.

The university provides an opportunity for the students to be intern in different organisations basically in the eighth semester of the integrated program and engineering program while in thehe 2nd semester of the Master program. But due to the covid-19 pandemic issue is was not possible. But some opportunities of work from home was also given and has promised to provide it as the winter internship program.

There are placement opportunities but not in the Department of commerce. Different companies are wellcomed by our placement department for the engineering graduates and also for the MBA graduates. Different companies like OIL India Ltd, ONGC, etc visits the campus for the placement offers.

It was awesome. There are different events happening every certain intervel. The annual meet is one of the greatest festival of the university where inter-hostel, inter-departmental, etc different events are held. Some individual events are also held. There are different events and seminars that are frequently held by different departments where attendees are from different places, institutes, countries, etc. One the important event is the Techxetra where grand participation is held for different events from different colleges, universities, etc. But due to some issue it in hold past two years.

Ishan Uday schoolarship which is a UGC provided scholarship one of the best schoolarship for the merit students that the university avails every year as per the UGC. Some other scholarship like SC, ST, OBC schoolarship for minority category students are also provided.

There is a lack in sports facilities in the campus. The exposure to the sports is much less as compared to other Universities. Even the administration give less importance to the sports exposure. The University has a central library with more than 60000 books. It is the place which is the best and most peacefull for one who wants to freshen their minds with different novels, literatures, etc. It is secured with full hd cctv camera in different sections of the library like books section, reading hall, etc. It also has a digital library where we are provided with digital equipment and the digital resources. Whole campus is provided with high speed internet connection. It is a residential campus where every hostel and the departments has the internet connection. The university provides all the required equipments for different works and researches.

The university provides one of the best hostel. The surrounding is fully eco-friendly and the TU it has a waste management system. The hostel are clean enough and the warden takes certain visits to enquire about the hostel. 24*7 electricity and water is provided. There are caretakers and security guards for students and hostel. The hostels are also in watch wit the security cameras at the entrance. Although the food quality is average it very much strict to the ragging culture. It is one of the safest campus. The hostel is enough for the students admitted in the campus. There is a separate research scholar hostel for the researchers and the Final year merit students. The campus provides separate hostel for girls and boys which are combined for different inter hostel events, etc. The average food expenses is quite economical as compared to the food provided.
