- The beauty of the campus can't be expressed in words. The campus is awesome. It has 3 hills and 7 lakes inside the campus. The mighty Brahmaputra river flows by the campus and is just 15 metres away.
- The peer group is one of the best in India. The sports and hostel facility is the best among all IITs.
- The professor of the college are highly qualified
Dislikes
- Far from main town. The campus is situated about 20 km from Guwahati station. But you can take ferry which hardly tale 10 minutes to cross the river.
Course Curriculum Overview
This is an emerging field and its course structure is best as it contains almost all the important topics of CSE and Mncs. It contains all the relevant topics, for example, IOT, Big Data, Data Mining, DSA, etc. Faculty to student ratio in my branch is 1:5. Currently there are 30 students in each year in DSAI BRANCH. The faculties are excellent and also the peer group here. Exams are conducted regularly to analyze you and work on your weaknesses.
Internships Opportunities
All the companies such as Google, Microsoft, Goldmann Sachs, jpmc, De Shaw, Samsung, Alphagrep, Nk securities, Qualcomm, Jane Street, etc. come for internship opportunities. Around 250 to 300 students get internships and some are also converted to PPOs.
Placement Experience
After the 6th sem placement season starts. The intern season takes place at the end of the 4th sem. The placement of the college is extremely good. The average package of the college is around 21 lakhs. That of CSE is 41 lakhs. Mncs is 35 lakhs etc. Projected package of my branch DSAI is 40 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are many scholarships available in the college having some eligibility criteria such as family income and Academic score. If your family income is less than 500000 then you have to pay only some fees.
Campus Life
The annual tech fest is Techniche which experiences footfall from all over the country and many colleges. The annual cultural fest is Alcheringa, it's considered the 2nd biggest fest in India and the largest in the northeast. The annual Sports fest is of 3 types : Spardha: Inter hostel, Spirit: inter college in north East, and Inter IIT: Between all IITs. The library is huge with more than 1.5 lakh books and journals. Each classroom has 2 projectors and a blackboard. Rooms are centrally air-conditioned. Many sports activities take place around the year. Each day is full of activities.
Hostel Facilities
Since 2020 each student from the first year was provided a single room but from the 2021 batch single rooms are provided from the first year. There are 12 boys and 3 girls hostel. Each room has some plug points, a cupboard, bookshelf. Every student is provided with a bed, table, and chair. There is a high-speed LAN port in every room. The mess food is good which varies from hostel to hostel. Each hostel has a stationery shop, canteen, juice center, sports room, and tv room. The sports room has sports like Table tennis, billiards, foosball, carrom, and chess. Each hostel has some outdoor game facilities like cricket or volleyball or football.
Admission
I am currently in Data Science and AI department at IIT GUWAHATI. To get here I had to clear JEE ADVANCED and secure 881 rank. Since it's a new branch it gets closed around 920 rank but in the upcoming years, it will get closed soon around 600-700 rank as AI and Data Science is in boom around us. The exam for JEE Advanced is conducted every year. After getting your rank, you go through the JOSAA counseling process in which you can be allotted a DSAI branch at IITG.
