Niraj Satnalika's Review On IMT - Institute Of Management Technology, Ghaziabad

The management of the college is not always pro-students and you will find some politics always in the college. The management is not very easily approachable and there is some conflict between the interest of placement committee and college management. The management several times impose rules which are not student friendly and this has resulted in several uproar in the college. However the situation seems to have improved over years.

I wrote CAT for seeking admission for the course. Other examination which are eligible for admission are GMAT. IMT Ghaziabad has been ranked among top 15 B-school consistently with good track record and alumni base. This helped me decide the b-school for PGDM course.

Course is well designed however for Finance discipline the faculty members are not that great. Marketing course is very well designed and the teachers are well learned and experienced enough. Further the case study mode of teaching also allows students from marketing discipline to apply concepts to the real world problems. In case of Finance which was my specialization I think more experienced faculty from industry is required. Courses such as strategy mergers and acquisitions,corporate finance needs a makeover.

The college does conduct both summer and final placements where almost 80 per cent of the batch (size of 550 in 2011-13 batch) was placed. The average stipend for marketing companies were relatively higher at Rs 25000 per month while for Finance the average stipend was low at Rs 15000 per month. Apart from this the college brings several short term projects from different companies which students can take along with their curriculum.

There are several events conducted at IMT G throughout the year. Several clubs and committees run by students of the institute organize both inter-b-school and intra-b-school events. Some of the prominent events which are famous among B-school fraternity are Passion,Tatva,Chakravyuh,Markup organised Marketing World Cup and several others.

In 2011-13 during my course the fees was Rs 10.15 Lakhs. Easy education loans are available from Central Bank of India collateral fee. This fees include tution fees alumni fees, registration,security deposit,library,hostel fees and mess fees. Its inclusive of all the expense during the two year stay at the campus.

The college has tie-up with the bank and one can easy get loans on the day of the admission as long as the papers are in place. As far as scholarships are concerned the college management awards scholarship named after its founder to the toppers of different discipline.

Campus life at IMT Ghaziabad is great. The campus never sleeps and you can find atleast a handful of people roaming here and there 24x7. Several sports competitions are organised by Sports committee. Apart from competition one can find students engaged in sports such as basketball,cricket,football,badminton,chess,poker,table tennis among others. Also the campus is home a to well equipped gym for students who want to keep themselves fit by working out.

The college has good hostel facilities and mess facilities. The mess is managed by a mess committee which comprises of students from senior and junior batch. Food is provided 4 times a day- breakfast,lunch,snacks,dinner. The menu for the week is pre-decided and changes every weekfortnight. Sweet dish such as ice-creams are also provided twice every week. As far as hostel facilities are concerned the hostel rooms are either single occupancy or double occupancy and comes with a bed,wardrobe,chair and table per student. The students buy their water coolers, mattresses and other stuff they require.The hostels have 24 hours water facility and have dedicated people for cleaning room,washrooms etc. You get hot water during winters. Overall all the facilities in hostels are managed by Student affairs council.

Alumni Relationship committee works to maintain healthy relationship with the alumni network of the college. They also conducts several events and alumni get together so that fruitful relationship can be maintained. The alumni helps the current students get live projects short term projects internships and also share their corporate experience in the form of guest lectures.

The course work is divided into six trimesters. Each trimester has 2 exam one mid term and one end term. Apart from the regular two exams there are 3 quizzes conducted which can be both scheduled or surprise quizzes.

Faculty of the college are easily accessible. One can write mails to the faculty and seek appointment for discussion. The faculty helps students for any course irrespective of the fact that the faculty is taking that course or not. Further some of the faculty has vast research expertise who provides mentorship to the students interested in carrying out research. However for this the students should be proactive and needs to talk to teacher approach directly with his,her plan and then execute.
