Remarks

The college has an excellent location and is very accessible. Getting an auto in the evening is a tough job though. The college management is pretty good but can be frustrating sometimes especially during fests because the allocation of funds is very strict. It has it's own ground which is a plus point. Overall if you do not manage to get into the very top colleges like VJTI,ICT or Sardar Patel vivekanand is a very good option.

Entrance Preview

Appeared for CET and scored 112/200 (State merit rank around 12000). Opted for VESIT for it's reputation and extra curricular activities. There was no interview as such and the admissions were done on the basis of CAP.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is very strictly adhered to. There are lot many extra lectures on fields of interest which are conducted regularly.

Internships Opportunities

The college has a separate internship and entrepreneurship cell called TVEC. Internships can be earned through them. The general stipend for one month internships during vacations is around 5000.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are much better than most colleges under Mumbai university. Accenture is the main and mass recruiter of the college. Other companies including Nomura,L&T, BPCL,CapGemini,Tech Mahindra,Toyo engineering and Aker also pick a few students. The Average package offered by Accenture was 2.8L while others offered higher packages around 5L but including a bond. L&T picks mainly students from Instrumentation department.

College Events

5

The college has something on the other going on at all times if the year. It is very lively PRAXIS is the main technical event of the college. Utsav is the main cultural event conducted by cultural council. Sphurti is the main sports event conducted by the Sports council (Indoor and outdoor Sphurti). The music council conducts various music events covering all types of music. Illusion is a new event which comprises of all the portfolios including cultural, literature, sports and art. The societies like IEEE,CSI,ISTE & ISA are very active and also conduct events throughout the year. VESIT Photocircle is another unique group of students passionate about photography. They are very active too. PRAXIS is the only inter college event with huge participants coming in from all over Mumbai. The footfall is around 3000 over 2 days. All other events are inter class competitions.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees are 1,09,442 for general category students. For OBC the fees are halved. Considering the amenities and facilities the fees are strictly okay.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tata provides an annual scholarship worth 1 Lakh rupees or annual fee each year to around 15 students per batch purely on merit. The Average cut off for this scholarship is around 9.3 pointer. Loans are available with the same Institute and need to be applied for by the students.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is exciting if you participate in events conducted by the college. The crowd is mixed with geeks and fun lovers too. The college has Sindhi minority so you can expect lots of people from Ulhasnagar. Gender ratio is excellent for an engineering college with around 25-30 girls per class of 75. The college has an annual freshers party and an unofficial freshers party for the first years Unofficial party is open for all. There has been no case of ragging and the seniors are very friendly and approachable. Robotics is a part of Praxis while debates are conducted by societies regularly.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Vivekanand has it's own hostel and management of the hostel is very good. Hostel rooms are on twin sharing basis with annual fees of 80, 000. The hostel food is very good and no complaints are heard about that. The hostel is available on a 2 year contract after which one has to find a PG or rent a flat with friends. The Average rent of the locality is around 20, 000 per month. Hostel has an indoor sports room and allows students to come back to the room upto 10 pm. Wifi is available if paid for. Hygiene is pretty decent.

Alumni/Alumna

Vivekanand has a very active Alumni network. The association conducts an Alumni meet each year and is attended by many ex-students. The senior Junior relationship is excellent in college.

Exam Structure

Exams are in forms of unit tests. Two unit tests are conducted each sem the average scores are taken for the final internal assessment scores. The poor thing done by the college is that the students have to provide the answer sheets themselves. Really the labs are hectic with strict submissions routine.

Faculty

3

Faculty of the college is very mixed. The computer and IT department has the best faculty in terms of leniency and approachability. Electronics and EXTC has decent faculty too with some very experienced professors and some newly joined faculty too.

In Kit college their are some rules for placement drive. In 7th sem companies started to visit our college. During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
