Remarks

Good aspects- this college is one of the best colleges in Kolkata when it comes to commerce stream. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and teach with utmost patience and care. The overall ambience is good and the college faculty is helpful. Bad aspects- the college building and toilets are in real poor condition, but they are being renovated. Admission process- this year the entire admission process has been shifted online unlike other years when all was conducted offline. Reasons for preferring this college- as I said, this college is one of the best in the state for commerce students, so it was already one of my top choices. Plus my brother also studied here, so I had to follow the way.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course cause everyone of my family member studied commerce. So there's a certain familiarity with this course. Faculty: student ratio is around 1:450 Faculty are well qualified to hold their positions. The teaching method applied by the teachers is the same Chalk and talk method. The term exams were pretty timely, after a duration of 6 months as they should be... To be honest, under the CBCS system, it's very easy to pass, as compared to the previous 1+1+1 system...

Placement Experience

Generally, students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. Many big international companies like Deloitte have visited our college and lots of meritorious students have gotten selected from our college. Average package offered is around 30-40000 with the highest package around 50-60000. Relatively smaller portion of students get placements from our college, about 0.2% I am considering pursuing Mcom in Accountancy

Fees and Financial Aid

This course is pretty affordable in our college, with the half yearly fees being a meagre amount

Campus Life

Our annual fest Quest is held in the month in the month of December-January. It's a 3 day event which is quite lavishly organized with events, singing and dancing performances, fashion show, DJ nights etc. Our college library is stacked with books on various subjects and is readily available for borrowing books when books are not available or very expensive. Our classrooms are pretty basic with wide desks and benches. Sports and extra curricular activities are not that frequently conducted on the campus. Once a year, sports day is held and we are taken to a nearby field where we compete over different sports. There are no such clubs or websites run by students.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

Placement Experience:

Placements were not there earlier. But our batch was the first one to get placement at St Joseph's College Darjeeling. To be honest It is not a college you should target if you are looking for placement. The companies were too small . The roles are way to entry level . Highest placement was around 40000 per month but it was an inside sales role so many opt out. There is not official data about placement . My plan was to look for off campus jobs.

Placement Experience:

from 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placement. Various Jewelleries company has visited, and even companies like Google, Tata and many has visited. As per i know the highest package were in lacs per month. The college provides 100% placement. After getting the degree, I'll do masters in business administration.

I did chose this course to learn more about accounting and finance and the cirriculum prepares you perfectly for the real world. SXC is invaluable to me!

Placement Experience:

Highest package of our program has been 20 lakhs. Companies like EY, DeShaw, ITC, CESC and many others which are multi billion dollar groups were the ones which are invited for placements. Batch size including morning and evening is of 400 students and nearly 200 gets placements in dream companies. Roles of business analyst and accounting are provided and SAP is taught in our college so those who know that gets job easily.

INSIGHTS OF GCCBA

Goenka college of commerce and business administration is the second best college in Kolkata and the best college under Calcutta University. Hence it has a brand value. I got admission offers in SXUK, Jaipuria THK Jain and Bhawanipur college, But this was the best option I had. The admission process is through your boards marks. Proud to be Goenkan

I got admission in Aliah University which is in New Town Kolkata I got rank 12. I applied in Shri Shikshathan College also and got admission in first list. I rejected both the colleges as Aliah University though it is a reputed college but the placement committee is not as good as Goenka College of commerce. I applied for BBA + MBA integrated program in Aliah University but I wanted to pursue BCom honours in accountancy and finance thus I rejected Aliah University. Shri shikshayatan college on the other hand is another reputed college in which I applied for bcom honours in accountancy and finance I rejected Shri shikshayatan college as no doubt Goenka College is way more better than Shree shikshayatan and Shri shikshayatan is comparatively very much expensive in comparison with goenka. Shri shikshayatan takes around 250000 tuition fee on the other hand Goenka College charges only 4090 rs for 4 years....Read More
