IIEST SHIBPUR IS ABOUT 160 YEARS OLD COLLEGE AND IS KNOWN AS THE OLDEST ENGINEERING COLLEGE OF INDIA,HERE,CIVIL ENGINEERING IS THE OLDEST BRANCH!THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS COLLEGE IS THAT IT IS LIKE HEAVEN,SURROUNDED ALL OVER WITH GREENRIES,A BIG CLOCK TOWER,A WELL CLEANED BIG POND,AND MANY MORE. THIS COLLEGE GOT AN INSTITUTE OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE TAG FROM MHRD IN THE YEAR 2014,AND ALSO A TAG OF NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IN 2019!PLACEMENTS HERE ARE GOOD AND ARE GROWING VERY FAST.MICROSOFT AND OTHER BIG PRODUCT BASED COMPANIES RECRUITS THE STUDENTS EVERY YEAR WITH A GOOD AND FAT PACKAGE.HERE,CODING CULTURE IS ALSO UPTO THE MARK AND IS GROWING AT A HIGH EATE DUE TO CRAZE OF THE FRESHERS.THIS COLLEGE TAKE ADMISSION THROUGH JEE MAIN ONLY.SO,ONE BELONGING IN STATE OTHER THAN WEST BENGAL HAS TO BE IN TOP 20K TO GET A DECENT BRANCH LIKE METALLURGICAL,CIVIL,AEROSPACE... Course Curriculum Overview
Students intake is about 100 per branch approx. .And, teachers here are very well qualified, and they do a lot if research abroad, and the exams are taken in time only. And, difficulty level is quite moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Yes our college offers internships opportunities but one gas to mail the professors here with a good profile and resume of course!
Placement Experience
From 3rd year only placements seasons are started and companies start visiting for internships and all.In our college Microsoft ,Adobe,Mentor graphics and other big product based companies come every year.Here,many students after their graduation go to research or for MS degree at abroad. Placement is good here like more than 90% for too branches! I will go for MBA after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for General category is 72000 Course fee and 29000 Hostel fees. And, for SC,ST,OBC,PWD,EWS TUITION FEE WAIVER SCHEME IS THERE WHERE THEY MAY GET REMITTANCE OF 2/3RD OF THEIR TUITION FEE IF THEIR FAMILY INCOME IS LESS THAN 5 LAKHS.
Campus Life
MANY FESTS ARE CELEBRATED HERE,YOU CANT COUNT,LIKE INSTRUO,TEDx,REBECA etc. And many competitions are also held every year for each and every department where quizzes are conducted and lots of cash prizes are given. There is a big library inside the campus where they have more than 1 lakh books.Classrooms are nice furnished but do take a window seat to take a feel of outside beauties! Two big playgrounds are also there.
Interview Experience
No such criteria is there...one has to clear JEE MAINS WITH A GOOD RANK OF ABOUT 20K TO GET ADMITTED TO THIS PRESTIGIOUS COLLEGE!
