Remarks

The college needs to work a little on Infrastructure and let the departments use the resources available to the best and make the most of it.Overall I had good three years, good people, helpful teachers and a happening college culture.

Entrance Preview

There was no entrance exam for Journalism 2013 admission. Admission was purely based on percentage. I scored 96.25 and got in the second cut off. I opted for this DCAC because it is rated amongst the top most colleges for Journalism.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is theoretical and lacks practical exposure. Although the curriculum includes pretty interesting subjects such as Integrated marketing communication, Cinema studies, Media ethics and challenges, reporting and editing for print, reporting and editing for broadcast,New media and many other subjects which will help you learn the historical and the contemporary background of media.

Internships Opportunities

The college does arrange for few internship interviews but only few. I think the college needs to work on the internship program.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placement cell for the final year students is pretty active but lacks course distinctions. Most of the placement offers were open for all courses and there were very few jobs that catered to specific courses. The teachers would help the students in applying to different internships and build contacts.

College Events

3.5

Starting from the biggest of all, the college fest is the biggest event celebrated and would include a lot of activities and star attraction. The Nss society would conduct its Nss mela which is very happening and lively. Delhi times fresher's storm is conducted every year in the college. If you got some talent just hop on the stage and win some fame.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible, of course it's DU. But journalism is the most expensive course offered at DCAC. The fee structure is around Rs 18000/- INR and apart from this there is an exam fees that needs to submitted at the start of a fresh semester.Education at Du is not at all expensive and is definitely cheaper than a lot of other universities.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well the college does grants scholarship certificates to the semester toppers and the college toppers on the annual day. Apart from this I do not know of any scholarship or loan plan.

Campus Life

2.5

The dramatics society, fashion society and photography society are very active. The college has recently renovated the music room so hopefully you would get to hear some drum rolls. There is a game room which has few indoor games like carom and chess. Apart from all this, one bonus for girls is the GCR-Girl's common room. There are beds and sofa's there. So if you don't feel like attending classes, just go and chill there. The geeks and nerds can also turn to the library, which has a lot of books just not enough copies of one text book. The college has a good population ratio and the crowd is considered to be the best USP of DCAC.

Hostel Facilities

3

There is no hostel facility at DCAC and the canteen is small and lacks proper air conditioning but has decent food options at very reasonable rates. Outside the canteen is a common activity point where people would sit for hours and bunk classes. There are few eating joints around the college. You would often hear people shouting "let's meet at banta/pal/mini"These are the few names assigned to that place. It is the next best hangout spot of the college. It looks like it is an extension of the college.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors would always love to help you. Finally after gaining a little experience at the college, they always love to give it away to the fatchas !I got my first internship with the help of a senior. The alumni also love to connect with the students. Its like a Renaissance with the college life.

Exam Structure

Exams are conducted twice in an academic year. The Internal exams are a little disorganized but teachers always arrange exams considering the class opinions. Mostly, internal exams would include written assignments or group assignments. Although DCAC has a lab for journalism which is fully quipped and furnished yet unavailable for use.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college is pretty experienced and would impart more than the curriculum knowledge. Faculty would special teaching aids such as power point presentations, would arrange for special lectures and workshops. The freshers and the department fest are amongst the two events when the department would get together and even the faculty would participate and enjoy. If you are getting into DCAC and in journalism, always remember Scoop must be like your own family festival! The faculty takes the departmental fest pretty seriously and would do extra effort to make it a success.

The placement cell of our college is functional and active. The chances depend on the course that you have opted for. The placements are really good for commerce, economics, Maths, Stats but for the other department's students it might be a bit challenging to find a company of their domain. The students become eligible to sit in placement from 5th semester. The companies that visit my college are Godrej, BCG, McKinsey, Nation with Namo, Blackstone, Accenture, KPMG, EY, citibank, microsoft and Amazon etc.

Reviewed on Mar 14, 2025(Enrolled 2024)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate my course four out of five because in journalism is a field where people are not about so much. The main stream media does not show the real problems and challengs of the country. They live in a bubble of their own. Many of the times they provide miss information to the people which hurts the hearts of the people. They do not cover multiple aspects of media. The exams in the daj is not so hard you can easily pass it by just 4 to 5 days of preparation.
